ADEPTICON 2015 WARHAMMER 40K Friendly THE 13TH

Across system Adep-ti- Con2015 battle rages, and troops fight for every inch of ground in a deadly conflict that changes minute by minute. The great High Lords of Terra have deemed this battle zone so extremely important, that extra measures are to be taken in order to aid the troops entrenched there. With this edict recently passed down, high level commanders have created several rest and relaxation (R&R) zones to help in the recovery of battlefield moral; AKA Camp AdeptiCon…as the troops have begun calling them. As troops and units are moved to these camps, they will be able to spend some time relaxing and reforming. Camp staff have been sent out to setup the camps in secured in green zones; and several units have already been processed through these camps to great effect and increased moral!!! Who doesn’t love some time at camp??

Forces being cycled will receive the following order:

Welcome to Camp AdeptiCon!

Well done soldier!!! Your valiant service has been recognized by the all mighty High Lords of Terra, and in their greatness they have been gracious enough to grant you leave to Camp Adep-ti-Con2015 for some much needed rest, fun, and relaxation before you are cycled back into the conflict. During your time at camp, your unit will be resupplied and re-staffed as you enjoy yourself. We would like to remind you, that as a highlight experienced soldier, please remember be as welcoming possible to your new battle brothers…take them under your wing, and show them the ropes. Below are some of the amenities of the camp you will be enjoying:

• Soft & Comfortable beds, no sleeping on the ground here! • Crystal Lake swimming pond. Engineered to be the perfect temperature to loosen those battle hardened nerves • Crafts!!, lots of crafts to send back to loved ones to let them know how great you are doing, and how much you

love your choice to serve….. • 4-Star Dining! Your guaranteed three high protein meals a day, no more wondering if you’ll get fed; and in most

cases it will be warm. • Fun and relaxing with friends: Remember there is no need to look over your shoulder, or wondering if the enemy is

hiding over there. All camps are secure in green zones! • Target ranges. Fun ranges to practice exterminating the enemy! • Medical bay!!! Get all your ailments taken care of, and any missing appendages replaced (replacement

appendages must be approved first).

Those are just a few of the things that will be available to you at camp, as you can see it will be a great time for you and your battle brothers! Until then… we know you’re tired, just remember to stay vigilant and fight the good fight for the Imperium, and just keep thinking that you’ll be with us soon…once here there will be no need to look over your shoulder all the time anymore…

Yours truly, Your Head Camp Counselors

WHAT YOU SHOULD, OR SHOULDN’T KNOW… • The 90 participants in the Warhammer 40K Friendly will be broken up into teams of 15 players. Each team will be

given a team identifier. • Players should be prepared for the unexpected - such as extra objectives and surprise terrain - remember this is The

Friendly; we are looking to have some light-hearted fun!

MERIT BADGES Every mission you will have the chance to earn a selection of unique Merit Badges. Each Merit Badge may only be achieved by one player in a game, except in Mission 2, where each player can achieve all the Merit badges. Certain badges may only be achieved by one player through the entire tournament! Yell for a Judge LOUDLY when this happens…there can be only one!!! Make sure to try to earn it quickly!

Each Merit Badge achieved is worth 2 Battle Points.

MISSION 1

• Track Star: Get out there and find some fun! To earn this merit badge, have a unit wholly within your opponent’s deployment zone at the end of your turn and then have that same unit wholly within your deployment zone at the end of a later turn. Please mark units accordingly.

• Explorer: There are lots of nifty places here, if you take the time to look. Have at least one unit wholly within each terrain feature in the game at some point in the game; this doesn’t need to be the same unit.

• Friendly!!!: Camp is a place to make new friends, make sure to introduce yourself! Launch a multiple assault.

• Early Bird: Waking up first, and being ready for some camp fun, is important! Deploy every unit during the deployment phase. If both players do this the one who goes first earns it, after all, they were first!

• Night Owl: You're too cool to get to camp early. Have at least half your units, rounding up, in reserve at the start of the game.

• Rivalry (Unique): There's always the two camper that butt heads the most. Challenge the enemy Warlord with your warlord. The Warlord just has to be in the unit being challenged. YELL FOR A JUDGE REALLY LOUD WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THER CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!!

MISSION 2

• Loner: Being alone is fun too! Have a unit never within six inches of another friendly unit. Earn this with the unit is removed from play or at the end of the game if the condition is met. If both players are eligible to earn this at the end of the game, the player going second earns it.

• Best Friends: Best friends do everything together. You and your teammate successfully assault the same unit in the same turn.

• Going for a Dip: Have a nice swim. Have a model reach the center of the lake. • Keg Party: You and your ally each have a unit wholly within a piece of a terrain in your opponent’s half

of the table. (Buy your teammate a drink!) • Arts and Crafts: You and your ally have each of your highest point unit do nothing for a turn. They

can’t move, shoot, run, assault, add Psychic dice, or manifest Psychic powers. If they are locked in assault they may not strike blows. This can’t be achieved Game Turn 1. If both teams do this in the same Game Turn, then neither team earns this and it can be attempted again next Game Turn.

• Spread Out and Search (Unique): It's always a good idea to spread out, right? Have five friendly units suffer a Jason Attacks! in the same turn. YELL FOR A JUDGE REALLY LOUD WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THER CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!!

MISSION 3

• Monster Slayer: While some people run from the monsters you go out to fight them. Be the first player to remove the last wound from Jason.

• Cannon Fodder: Own the first unit that is removed from play by Jason. • Not Afraid! Assault Jason with your Warlord. • Gotta Get Away! Have a unit reach your opponent’s table edge and then remove them permanently

from play. • BBF! Perform a Heroic Intervention to save a character from Jason. • I Killed Jason! (Unique): Be the first player at the event to slay Jason. YELL FOR A JUDGE REALLY LOUD

WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THER CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!!

WARHAMMER 40K FRIENDLY THE 13TH BATTLE ORDERS

BATTLE ORDERS

1. Terrain: Terrain is not fixed. Place Crystal Lkae in the center of the table, then players roll-off and alternate placing terrain. No piece of terrain may be placed within 4” of another piece of terrain or the board edge.

2. Generate Pre-game Abilities: Determine Combat Squads, determine pre-game abilities such as Warlord Traits, Psychic Powers, Gifts of Mutation, Demonic Rewards and the like. When generating Warlord Traits, re-roll any roll that results in Tactical Trait: Master of Fate (#5).

3. Night Fighting: Either player can declare that they wish to fight the battle at night. If either player does so, roll a D6 before deployment: on a roll of 4+, the Night Fighting special rule is in effect during game turn 1 and all units have the Stealth special rule.

4. Determine Deployment Zones: Players roll-off and the winner chooses his deployment zone/table half. 5. Determine Deployment Order: Players roll-off and the winner decides who will deploy first and who will

deploy second. 6. Deployment: The side deploying first then must set up all units in their army (including Fortifications*).

Then the other side sets up all units in their army (including Fortifications*). Resolve Infiltrating units and Scout moves.

7. Determine First Player: The player that deployed first can choose to take the first or second turn; their opponent can attempt to Seize the Initiative. If your opponent’s army includes a Lord of War, and yours does not, you receive +1 to this roll.

Game Length: Variable Game Length will be utilized in all missions. Mission Special Rules: Night Fighting, Reserves and Merit Badges are in effect for all missions.

* Fortifications now deploy with the rest of your army in your Deployment Zone. In general, Fortifications may not be placed in terrain and must be placed in an open area in the player’s Deployment Zone, ignoring the minimum distance rules for terrain. If no such space exists in a player’s Deployment Zone, a single piece of terrain may be shifted the minimum distance required to fit the Fortification.

FRIENDLY UNITS Friendly Units are those which we do not see very often in the tournament environment. They are often considered inferior and not as effective as other more robust choices. That said, many of these units can be incredibly fun to play with in other environments. We believe all squads need a little love, and deserve to see the battlefield; and we want to reward those players who share this point of view! Below you will find a list of units that we are calling “Friendly Units”. We will be awarding bonus points to Teams where players take one of the units listed below at maximum strength. Each army has two to choose from:

o S. M. Codex: Honor Guard & Terminator squad o B.A. Codex: Honor Guard & Terminator squad o S. W. Codex: Scout squad & Lone Wolf o Dark Angles: Nephilim Jetfighter & Land Speeder

Vengeance o Grey Knight: Interceptor squad & Purgation Squad o Imperial Knights: Are you kidding???? & Are you

Kidding??? o Adepta Sororitas: Repentia Squad & Penitent engine o Astra Militarum: Rough Riders & Ogryns o Chaos Daemons: Furies & Beasts of Nurgle o Chaos Space Marines: Raptors & Mutilators o Dark Eldar: Mandrakes & Blood Riders

MISSION 1: ARRIVING AT CAMP *** READ THE ENTIRE SCENARIO BEFORE SETTING UP ***

Did Christy ever tell you 'bout the two Marines murdered in 172.M41? Inquisitor drowning in 171.M41? Bunch of fires. Nobody knows who did any of 'em. In 178.M41, they was gonna open up. The water was bad. Christy'll end up just like his folks, crazy and broke. He's been up there a year fixin' up that place. He must've dropped 2,500,000 credits, and for what? Ask anybody. Quit.

WHAT THE ???? Players should be prepared for the unexpected, such as extra objectives, and possible surprise terrain.

DEPLOYMENT Please follow the Battle Orders and game length rules as presented in the Warhammer 40K Friendly the 13th Battle Orders sheet.

MISSION SPECIAL RULES Reserves (pg. 135) Merit Badges

Arriving at Camp: This mission DOES NOT utilize the Night Fight special rule.

Notes on Table Quarters: Table quarters are determined by drawing two lines through the center of the battlefield, parallel to the table edges.

A unit may only contribute to the control of ONE table quarter at a time. If a unit is spread between multiple table quarters, the unit is considered to be in the table quarter containing a MAJORITY of that unit. If this is unclear, then randomly determine which table quarter the unit is in.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Table Quarters: The player that controls more table quarters at the end of the game achieves this objective. To control a table quarter, each player adds up the point cost of all their units in that quarter. The player with the most points present wins the quarter.

Win Draw Loss 12 points 6 points 0 points

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES 1. Slay the Warlord: If, at the end of the game, the

enemy's Warlord has been removed as a casualty, you achieve this objective.

2. First Blood: The first unit, of any kind, to be removed as a casualty during the game achieves this objective for the opposing player at the end of the game.

3. Linebreaker: If, at the end of the game, you have at least one model from one or more scoring units completely within 12” of the enemy’s table edge, you achieve this objective.

Each Secondary Objective achieved is worth 2 points.

MERIT BADGES The following Merit badges are achievable in this mission. Each Merit Badge may only be achieved by one player in a game. The Rivalry badge may only be achieved by one player through the entire tournament! Yell for a Judge LOUDLY when this happens…there can be only one!!! See the Merit Badge sheet for full details.

The unit suffers 1d6 Strength 6 Ap 1 hits. Allocate hits to character models first, and then models of the controlling player’s choice. Look Out Sir! Rolls only pass on a roll of a six, no one can get away from Jason!
