    INSIDE THIS ISSUE:

Doug McLeay is one of the founding members of the Warman Chamber and elected to the Executive as

Secretary – Treasurer. He and his wife, Kim, own and operate the Wagon Wheel Family Restaurant.

Doug and Kim moved to Warman in 2005 along with their 2 kids and their dog and settled right into town.

The next step for them was getting into business here. The Wagon Wheel was just the type of business

they were looking for. They purchased the family run business back in 2009 from the original owners.

Doug feels fortunate to live and work in Warman and the best part is their five minute commute to work. He

loves that he can walk, ride, or bike.

For Doug, the Warman Chamber of Commerce has been a way to connect with other business owner and

managers and grow their business through this networking.

As for hobbies, in his spare time Doug likes to golf. You may also see him cruising around town on his

    Harley motorcycle.

its kind in Canada. It educates Cham-

    enables individual Chambers to tap

into the collective creativity of the

Chamber network for ideas that have

been tried and tested. We were fortu-

valuable feedback and will be taking

    everything into consideration when we

go about writing the final draft. We

Warman Chamber is a member of this

    group. Other members include the

    Cities of Warman, Saskatoon and

Martensville, the RM of Corman Park,

    Meewasin Valley Authority, SREDA,

    Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce,

    NSBA, Wanuskewin Heritage Park

    Authority, RMD Engineering, and Min-

    istry of Highways representatives.

Our most recent meeting occurred on

May 29th. The Northern most portion

of the perimeter highway has basically

been set (within +/- 250 meters). The

    highway department is looking for

letters of endorsement for the route

that has been decided. They are send-

ing the group members a more de-

tailed map, which we will pass on to

    Warman Chamber members for your

    information and input.

The South portion of the perimeter

highway location is still unclear. The

Raj Manek Mentorship Program September Intake If you are a new business, going

through challenging times or want to

    grow your business—join the Raj

    Manek Business Mentorship Program

    The Raj Manek Business Mentorship

    Program (RMMP) has been operating

since 1998 and is accepting applica-

    tions for their September intake.

    RMMP provides:

    - one-on-one mentorship with an expe-

rienced mentor whose skill sets compli-

ment your targeted areas of improve-

    ment

    - monthly seminars on topics of interest

    create an environment where partici-

    pants can feel comfortable asking

    questions.

    - Technical advisors available one-on-one

in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Hu-

man Resources, IT, Legal, Sales, and

    Strategic Planning.

    - Program affiliations to access databases

and resources from other programs includ-

    ing PCensus, Reference Canada, Hoo-

    vers, iSell, Kompass

    - Access to RMMP databases including

    eStatement Studies, First Research, and

    Profit Driver

    - Peer-to-peer mentorship service where

    business owners can congregate and

share their thoughts, ideas, and jointly

solve problems with the guidance of a

    technical expert.

    - Networking opportunities.

Ministry of Highways is holding public

meetings starting June 25th for public

input. It is hoped the South route will be

established by mid October 2015. The

South has many more constraints which

include limited bridge options, and a lot of

    housing development.

Our group recommended that the Ministry

of Highways do the project in stages

starting with the North section to run from

#16 highway North West of Saskatoon to

#16 highway South East of Saskatoon.

We would like to see the project start

    sooner rather than later.

Note that his perimeter highway is to be a

true freeway with speeds of 110km/hour

    and all controlled intersections giving

    access.

Other work going on or soon starting in

    the area includes:

    - The twinning of Highway #7 from Saska-

toon to Vancoy as well as passing lanes

    added between Delisle and Rosetown.

    (2015)

    - The twinning of Highway #16 from

    Saskatoon to Clavet (2015)

    - Passing lanes being added to Highway

#5 from Saskatoon to Humboldt (starting

    2016)

    - Warman and Martensville interchanges.

Construction to start this Fall, with full

    construction happening Spring 2016

    - Interchange at Highway #16 and

    Boychuk Drive (2015)

    - North Commuter Parkway Bridge (is in

    procurement stage with completion by

    2018)

    - Traffic Bridge (is in procurement stage

    with completion by 2018)

    - Work on the intersection of Highways

11/16 and Marquis Drive is in the works.
