1. WARRANTY PROCEDURE

DOOSAN TRADING LIMITED

Doosan Trading Limited is the entity selling products from the Portable Power range to authorised dealers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. All Portable Power products are supplied to you by Doosan Trading Limited under your Distributor Agreement. All warranties are provided by Doosan Trading Limited.

1.1 WARRANTY EFFECTIVENESS

Portable Power’s reputation lies not only in the quality of its products, but also in the value of its warranty. The end-user/owner must be advised of the terms and conditions of the warranty prior to completion of the purchase. There are two separate warranties: The New Equipment Warranty on all areas of the new product and the Parts Warranty which applies to service parts installed in the unit. In the event that a customer should have a warrantable failure, settlement should be made as quickly as possible. Customers should not be charged if a failure occurs due to defects in material and/or workmanship. Portable Power requires the utmost of quality in all repairs and the customer should be made aware of this. Positive customer relations are essential in order that your reputation as a dealer and our reputation as a manufacturer is preserved. The continued success of Portable Power depends on the effectiveness of the product support you provide and the communication of that support to your customer. Any warranty repair is to be documented internally and Doosan Trading Limited may require to be provided with a copy of the work order and/or a copy of the dealers internal warranty invoice. This manual is designed to assist Portable Power Dealers in understanding the warranty and relating Portable Power support to the customer. Compliance with the standards and guidelines in this manual is the key to a successful warranty program.

1.2 WARRANTY REGISTRATION

All Portable Power products with the exception of Tools sold by Doosan Trading Limited must be registered in order for the warranty period to start. Please refer to the individual Product Warranty statement, for details of which Warranty Registration applies. All Warranty Registrations are captured in the form of a DELIVERY REPORT.

1.3 DELIVERY REPORT

For a warranty to apply, registration with Doosan Trading Limited must be completed. It is mandatory for the Delivery Report form to be completed at the time the unit is delivered to the end-user/owner. The Warranty Policy, Operating Instructions, Safety Equipment and Precautions, Maintenance Procedures and Adjustments must be communicated to the end-user/owner at the time of delivery. Delivery reports are required on all serial-numbered machines and Tools. Doosan Trading Limited shall have no warranty obligation unless the Delivery Report form is registered with the Doosan Trading Warranty Department. Delivery Reports are also required for Dealer rental units. NOTES: It is important that the Delivery Date and customer signature are on the Delivery Report,

otherwise it will be rejected and returned! The actual retail must be registered using www.diipartner.net. A signed copy of the delivery

report must be either scanned and attached in the system at the time of completing the Delivery report or returned to Doosan Trading Limited, f.a.o The Portable Power Warranty Department.

Address:

Doosan Trading Limited Block B, Swords Business Campus Swords, Co. Dublin Ireland

The delivery report date has to match the date the machine was delivered to the end customer.

In case there is a discrepancy noted, warranty statutory rights will be cancelled.

1.4 INVENTORY WARRANTY

All equipment delivered by Portable Power carries a maximum of 18 months warranty from the shipment date. If a machine is retailed after more than 6 months (from the shipment date) the remaining manufacturer warranty coverage will decrease proportionally. In this case, when filing a delivery report, you will be given the option to accept the reduced coverage or to request for an extension of warranty. Doosan Trading Limited will request a signed copy of the delivery report and/or may request the machine to be inspected. Doosan Trading Limited reserves the right to approve/deny the request for extension. In such cases the responsibility for providing a full year’s coverage to the end user will rest with the selling dealer. If a machine/Tool is retailed within six months from the shipment date, the standard 12-month New Equipment Warranty does apply.

1.5 WARRANTY TRANSFER

The remainder of the original warranty may be transferred to a second owner. An equipment transfer report (ETR) has to be filled out on the Aftersales System (www.diipartner.net). It is the dealers’ responsibility to explain the request for transfer and verify that the proposed warranty coverage is transferable to the new owner. Should an existing warranty coverage plan not be transferred automatically, please contact the Doosan Trading Limited Warranty department. Doosan Trading Limited has the option to reject any warranty transfer request, and has the right to inspect any unit prior to approval.

1.6 WARRANTY RESTART

If a unit meets one of the following requirements, Doosan Trading Limited may at its discretion agree to grant a new warranty upon resale: If the Portable Power product is returned within (1) one month or 100 hours, whichever occurs first, to the selling dealer. Written approval by the Doosan Trading Ltd Warranty Department is required prior to restart of warranty. Doosan Trading Limited has the right to inspect any unit prior to approval.

1.7 WARRANTY ON SECOND HAND UNITS

Portable Power Remarketing is selling: Second hand units from trade-in’s: these units are sold without manufacturers warranty

coverage, unless there is a remaining coverage from the original owner. Ex-Portable Power demo & School units, these units may be sold with a limited Warranty

coverage and are subject to approval by the Doosan Trading Limited Warranty Department. These units will not be displayed in your After-sales system. Should you require to submit a warranty claim on the above units, please contact your Warranty Coordinator to upload the serial number to the system. Validation of the coverage may be required through copy of the Portable Power Remarketing machine invoice or customers invoice.

1.8 BELATED WARRANTY REGISTRATION

In case the Portable Power equipment has been used as a demo unit, it is possible to start warranty registration at the time of effective sale of the machine. This can be done when the machine was used for less than (6) six months or 200 hours (whichever occurs first). When demonstration equipment is used for more than (6) six months or 200 hours the equipment has to be reported as retailed to the using dealer. Written approval by the Doosan Trading Ltd Warranty Department is required prior to restart of warranty. Prior to approval, Doosan Trading Limited has the right to inspect any unit and will request diagnostic print-out (where applicable). Travel time is not covered on demo unit warranty claims.

1.9 INVALIDATING THE WARRANTY

Warranties provided by Doosan Trading Limited do not apply to failures occurring as a result of abuse, misuse, negligent repairs, corrosion, erosion, normal wear and tear, alterations and modifications made to the product without express written consent of Portable Power. Invalidation of warranty will be caused by: Failure to follow the recommended operating practices. Failure to follow and document scheduled services. Failure to adhere to maintenance procedures and schedules. All repairs carried out under warranty must be completed by an authorised Portable Power dealer and/or approved Portable Power representative. Portable Power genuine parts shall be used in such work. Failure to comply strictly with these requirements shall invalidate this warranty. Portable Power may at its option require failed parts to be returned to its various manufacturing locations. In the event an owner/operator maintains the unit, the service schedule must be adhered to and Portable Power Genuine spare parts/consumables must be used. Backup documentation must be available in the event of a warranty failure.

1.10 COVERAGE OF SERIALISED COMPONENTS

When a serialized component is replaced, the serial number of the new installed item needs to be mentioned in the “general comments” field of the warranty claim. Additionally, for vendor recovery purposes, Doosan Trading Limited may require the serial number of the defective part. Example: Airend’s, Engines, Alternators & Controllers, etc.

1.11 WARRANTY PARTS RETURNS

Doosan Trading Limited in order to properly administer its warranty program, will at its option, request dealers to return parts. The reasons for this action are as follows: 1. To validate the warranty of a particular failure. 2. To allow Doosan Trading Limited to claim from its respective suppliers. 3. To help Doosan Trading Limited determine if a manufacturing change may be necessary. Dealer must hold the warranted parts for 90 days after receipt of the credit memo for that particular claim from Doosan Trading Limited. When items are requested to be returned, a notation will be sent to the dealer, in the Warranty Claim. Return location and part number to return will be specified in the notification.

WARRANTY PARTS INSPECTION NOTIFICATION

Doosan Trading Limited may, at its option, request warranted parts to be held for inspection. The Portable Power District After-sales Manager and/or Warranty Representative will inspect these parts, and give the dealer disposition instructions at that time. Warranty parts should be tagged pending disposal or inspection by the DAM. Portable Power / Doosan Trading Limited may request parts to be held for over 90 days.

4700251 – EN (09-2009) 7 Warranty Policy & Procedure Manual

The warranty tag should contain the following information: Claim number, job number, machine serial number and running hours of the failed part and machine. Should parts not be available for inspection, Doosan Trading Limited reserves the right to deny the entire warranty claim.
