Dear Warrior Parents and Guardians,

Even though the recent snows we’ve received have returned much of our thinking to winter-

mode, the turn to the March calendar indicates that Spring is sure to arrive. Now into the sec-

ond semester, we’re moving along the stretch to the warmer weather, return of the outdoor

sports, and - believe it or not – graduating our seniors.

This is an exciting time in our school calendar, and even though we understandably start look-

ing at the end of the school year coming up, there’s still a great deal of work to be done.

Please join me in learning about this month’s activities from our fine parent organizations be-

low. They, too, continue to be hard at work supporting our students, staff, and parents.

Sincerely,

Chris Dignam

As a very successful winter sports season concludes, Booster Club would like to thank those

families who have purchased a membership for the 2015-2016 school year. We are very excited

about the buzz around the new Warrior Gym and the new Aquatics Center. Please stop in when

you have a chance to check out these beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities!

Spring sports are about to begin and we wish good luck to all of our spring athletes and their

families. Please remember, the best way for you to support your student athletes is through

Booster Club membership. Booster Club recently authorized funds for new lacrosse helmets,

DHS student-athlete participation in the CSL Leadership Conference, and, of course, concussion

testing for all DHS student-athletes. All membership levels include a Family Athletic Pass,

which provides admission to all regular season events (tournaments and state series events are

not included). Please visit our website: https://www.memberplanet.com/dhsboosterclub to

purchase your membership.

Sport-specific team programs! We are in the process of launching a pilot test for sport-specific

team programs for a number of spring sports. In these glossy programs, you or your business

will have the opportunity to sponsor an event or a field position. The programs will have

information on team history, coaches, and rosters. Please contact Brad Emalfarb

([email protected]) or Brian Fishman ([email protected]) or your Booster Club Sports

Rep for more information.

We are looking for volunteers to become Booster Club board members or committee chairs

for the 2016-17 school year. Please contact David Haas ([email protected]) or Susan Jensen

([email protected]) if you would like more information or would like to volunteer. It’s a

fun way to give back to the school and the community, and to ensure the safety and enhance the

learning environment for your student-athletes.

Please join us at one of our monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in

Room A100. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

GO WARRIORS!!!

Deerfield Parent Network – Mark Your Calendars! Spring is in the air, and we have some terrific events lined up -- Thursday, March 10th – The Hunting Ground (one night only documentary/discussion) (PARENT & STUDENT PROGRAM) 7:30 p.m. DHS Auditorium DPN, in partnership with the DHS PTO and Community – The Anti-Drug, will host a special screening of The Hunting Ground -- a powerful documentary that exposes the growing epidemic of sexual assault on U.S. college campuses. Through first-person testimonies, the film focuses on both the institutional cover-ups and the devastating toll it has on the survivors and their families. Bethany LoPresti, PhD, psychologist, NorthShore University Health System, and Jessica Harris, a DHS alum who speaks candidly about her experience as a sexual assault victim as a collegiate freshman, will facilitate the post-film discussion for parents and their students. The film has a PG-13 rating – viewer discretion is advised. Open to all parents and their high school-aged students. Wednesday, April 6th – An Insider’s Guide to Junior Year 7 – 8:30 pm – Deerfield Public Library Back by popular demand, this program takes an honest, in depth look at what is in store junior year from those who have the inside scoop. Moderated by DHS student activities director Brian Verisario, the panel includes Kristen Doktor, DHS college counselor; Michelle Brownell, DHS special education teacher; parents of upperclassmen, and students. Get the latest news on such topics as – ACT vs. SAT, joining DHS activities (never too late!), and your changing role as your child experiences the unique social and academic pressures of junior year. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear and ask questions of the experts!

Announcing the Prom After Party -- May 14, 2016 For the past nine years, Deerfield Parent Network has offered seniors and their dates the Prom After Party -- a free, fun and safe event following the formal DHS prom. Last year, more than 430 kids enthusiastically took part at the Sachs Recreational Center. The After Party has been hugely popular thanks in large part to a committed number of DHS parent volunteers. Each year, many of these dedicated parents “graduate” along with their seniors. In order to continue this successful senior tradition for years to come, we need your help! We especially like to have parents of underclassmen so they can experience it before their kids experience it for themselves. The After Party offers parents peace of mind that their teens are safe in a fun, supervised setting with their classmates. Let’s ensure the tradition continues through the class of 2016 and beyond! There are several ways you can you get involved:
