History of Washington● The history of Washington includes thousands of
years of Native American history before Europeans began to establish territorial claims.

● The Lewis and Clark expedition, under direction from President Thomas Jefferson, entered the state on October 10, 1805.
● The first European record of a landing on the Washington coast was in 1774 by Spaniard Juan Pérez.

● Washington is located in the North by the Canadian province of British Columbia; is North of Oregon; is West of Idaho; and is on the West Coast
