September 2019 pg WASHINGTON SOUND Washington Unit #112, WBCCI ISSUE 545 September 2019 On The Road Again This is my final letter for the year. It has been busy, but it has been fun meeting our new and old friends. The rallies have been so well attended by all of you. The volunteers have been extraordinary, excellent, hard workers, and we even had fun. I was so lucky to have a wonderful Board of Trustees. I thank each of them for their advice and help throughout the year. I wish all the luck to our new President, Terry & First Lady Carol Miller. They will be doing a super job and will be needing help along the way. Good luck to the whole Board of Trustees! It’s going to be a fun year! There is still one more rally before the Millers take over the reins. It is our special Election and Installation Rally. We need help in making this a great time for your newly elected board. I need volunteers for decorating, reception, food preparation, tours, and games. The menu is set but we need you to help cook. It is an easy menu and you will not be doing it yourself. We have greatest volunteers that can pitch in. The price of the rally is $5.00 per person. It includes 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners and best of all, a great time to have fun. Please call me at 360-459-8749 and volunteer to help. At this rally we have a Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5th, at 7:00 pm. The rally starts on Friday at 9:00 am with a continental breakfast and dinner in the evening. On Saturday at 8:00 am you will enjoy a breakfast put on by the Past Presidents. On Saturday at 9:30 am we will have our General Membership Meeting when the election of the 2019-2020 Officers will take place. On Saturday night, we will have the installation of the new officers. The installation will be with our new Region 10 President Sharon Cairns. Again, I want to encourage all of you to volunteer for this rally and other rallies throughout the year, Also, please consider volunteering to becoming an officer. You have all been waiting for it! The 2020 Splash Rally is going to happen July 16-19, 2020

We arrive on Thursday July 16 and spend 3 nights at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport, WA, leaving on Sunday July 19, 2020 There will be options for lunch cruises on Diablo Lake on Thursday

thru Saturday; afternoon cruises on Friday and Saturday; the “dam good chicken dinner” in Newhalem on Thursday and Friday and of course, the white water rafting on Saturday unless we have to do it in two groups, which will mean Friday also. You will get a wet and have a wild ride! For those of you who didn’t go in 2018, you missed a fun and active rally. Ask those who went if you are curious. For those of you who did go in 2018, this will be

similar to that rally with a few more options added in which I am working on now. There are a few cabin rentals if you don’t have an Airstream and want to come but, you will need to reserve cabins on your own and then register for the rally. The rally fee will be in a later issue of the newsletter along with the coupon. I have reserved all three camping circles (30 campsites) and the picnic shelter for this Airstream rally. When the coupon comes out, sign up quickly as this rally will sell out. We will have a standby list after all 30 sites are taken. I hope to see you all there. Lee & Jan Wyman 360-915-6202

APPRECIATIONS

We want to sincerely thank all those that sent cards, phone calls, get well wishes and prayers in support of Connie's recent surgeries. You really helped us get through this tough time. We love you all.. Connie and Bill Reed

This Change to the Unit Bylaws is a Suggestion From WBCCI At the IBT meeting in Doswell, VA the Model Constitution Article VIII was changed to allow Unit/Clubs more flexibility in amending their Constitution/Bylaws. WA Unit Bylaws ARTICLE XVI, Section I parts A and B. could possibly be updated to reflect these changes. (Changes in Bold Italics)

A. Any Article or Section of these Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members

voting at a business meeting of the Unit or a special meeting called for that purpose, providing in

either case, a notice containing the proposed amendment or amendments has been delivered by

first-class mail or electronically to each member of the Unit/Club at least fifteen days prior to such

meeting. B. The Bylaws may also be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the membership of the Unit present

and voting at a regular or special meeting, provided that the proposed amendments have been submitted to the Unit Board in the form of a petition signed by twenty-five (25) or more members of the Unit. The proposed amendments must then be published in the Washington Sound at least one

week prior to such meeting.

In accordance with Section 1 C. changes to the Unit Bylaws , mandated by WBCCI, International, can be made by the Unit Board of Trustees without referral to the membership for approval.

THANK YOU THANK YOU Your generosity in our School Supplies. We collected backpacks, calculators, and other supplies. We will donate $200.00 directly for help with other expenses: $5 Student Planner required, $10 science calculator required, $10 Chromebook Awareness required, $5 ASB card, optional $20 Music student participating fee, $60 Sports Fee,

Salmon Rally and Mountain Rendezvous

Thank you Mark Johnson & family and Steve Daly for a great rally with lots of new activities. I enjoyed the archery, knife and axe throwing. My old time photo of Al and I dressed up in vintage clothing came out great. Thank you to the food committee and especially the salmon cooked by Richard Stolarik and his crews. Thanks for all the volunteers who stepped up and made this a great Airstream memory.

Sponsored by Region 10 River Run Ski Lodge Parking Lot in Ketchum, Idaho

October 15 – 20, 2019

It’s a National Special Events Rally that you do not want to miss – the Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival Rally! Over 40 of the best musical groups from around the world take the stages daily in the several venues in the Sun Valley Basin, nestled in the heart of the Sawtooth Mountains during the peak of autumn colors. Sun shining through the golden Aspen leaves makes for spectacular scenery! Although the Festival officially begins on Wednesday, October 16th, the rally begins one day earlier, October 15th. We will have Social Hours everyday at 4pm and give you time to enjoy the area earlier in the day. RV parking (dry) is available beginning on Sunday, October 13th for those who want to enjoy other activities in the area including the Trailing of the Sheep Festival. Parking is adjacent to the magnificent River Run Lodge at the base of Baldy Mountain and overlooks the Big Wood River. RV’s must be self-contained, however free use of luxurious bathroom and shower facilities at the lodge (a 3 minute walk) are available. Generators are allowed with quiet hours from 10PM to 7AM. The parking fee for the entire time is only $40. Dump sites are close by. Volunteer opportunities are available at the Festival. Those who have a confirmed position by the Volunteer Coordinator and contribute 12 hours of work, receive their Festival Badge and parking as a “Thank You.” Ask for details if interested. (The Festival organizers look forward to and plan on our help).
