From our establishment in the bungalow at the top of Pattenden Lane to the 145,000 square foot premises we now operate from, Claygate’s story is simply one of a kind. Most people within the bathroom industry have heard of

Claygate, but for those who are not familiar at first, they soon know after spotting one of our distinctive navy blue lorries out on the road. We started as a distributor for the South East of England and have expanded into the West Country, South Wales and East Anglia throughout the years, without the need to open another premises in these areas. Managing Directors, brothers Mel and Andrew Streek, have kept their business within the rural surroundings of Marden and have extended the existing premises site instead. It means that Claygate can now see itself as more than a local distributor but one that has remained true to its home.

There are many things to look forward to in the next 12 months here at Claygate. As our first Open Day in 2013 was such a great success, we will be opening our doors once again in June and celebrating our 25 years in bathrooms with a big party afterwards here at our premises. The event will give people another great insight into our products, service and operation, with extensive ranges on display and scheduled tours around the facillity. This will give potential customers the opportunity to meet and greet with our staff, as well as introducing themselves to our manufacturers and existing customers. The scheduled tours around the premises will be conducted by our Sales Director, Malcolm Thomas, enabling customers to really get a feel for what we do and how we ensure expectations are not only met but also exceeded. Additionally, we will be marking Claygate’s Silver Anniversary with attractive changes to our Price Book, so keep your eyes peeled for what’s in store!

are set to welcome many more.

As a result, continuing and developing our relationship with Bathroom Brands, we have ventured into France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg supplying and promoting products of Arcade, Britton, Burlington and Clearwater as well as endorsing our own brands of G, Artésan and many more. Primarily, a weekly delivery schedule from our Marden base will be set in place for these countries and once business develops this will be reviewed. Our aim is to eventually offer a schedule that mirrors that of our South West area and deliver on a two x two-day basis. Due to the success of our South West delivery schedule, we are positive that this will be the correct agenda for Europe. Although both Claygate and Bathroom Brands have already begun this new venture, it will be a steady and vigilant process to ensure that every part of the operation is functioning correctly. Thus, with this being in the early stages, we will invest accordingly to accommodate requirements for the European market. In order to meet these requirements a few changes have been made within the company. Former Sales and Marketing Manager,

Dionne Banks is now the newly appointed, European Sales and Marketing Manager, overseeing the European side of the business. She will be developing our Continental customer base alongside the European Business Development Co-ordinator, communicating with customers from France and the Benelux countries.

Not only are we preparing to begin our 25th Year, but we are also expanding further than ever before.

Representatives from Claygate attended this year’s Cersaie Event in Bologna, Italy, along with 100,000 visitors from all over the world. Working closely with manufacturer, Bathroom Brands, the five-day event proved to be very productive,

with a great response from European clientele. Displaying beautiful products, such as the iconic Pashley Bicycle Basin and the Piccadilly Freestanding Shower Temple, it’s clear to see why the exhibition stand generated so much attention.

Here at Claygate, we have added Trojan’s new range of Bathe Easy baths to our extensive portfolio. With easy access and fresh design, a Bathe Easy bath eliminates the difficulty of getting in and out and increases

independence. Offering practical solutions for the whole family and quality manufacturing, ensuring safety and comfort, the baths are handcrafted with care and attention to detail. The contemporary designs of the baths also complement any modern bathroom, without bargaining on their utility.

Trojan offers four types of Bathe Easy bath; Walk-In, Walk-In Shower, Power Seat and Deep Soak Walk-In. The Walk-In bath is Trojan’s conventional Cascade bath, with the extra facility of a glass panel door. The Walk-In Shower Bath is

available in a P-Shape, (P Shape Concept) and an L-Shape, (Solarna),

Claire Rootes gave birth to a beautiful

baby girl, Scarlett Evie Nash on 28th

September, weighing 7lbs, 3oz. Claire brought Scarlett in for a visit a week after her birth and both are doing very well. We would

like to congratulate Claire and her partner,

Andrew once again and send them our

best wishes!

We said farewell to Sales Co-ordinator, Jordan Barwick in late October, after

working in the office for a year. Jordan looked after ASM’s Mark and Debbie’s customers in Team C and gained extensive knowledge and experience from his time here. He has gone on to become an estate agent, so we hope the customer service skills that he has gained at Claygate will help

him in his next role. We wish him good luck in his next venture!

Sales Co-ordinator, Karina Matthews left the office to start her maternity leave late October and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Toby Andrew Richard Matthews on 13th November. Weighing a healthy 7lbs, 11oz, both mum and baby are doing very well.

their daughter, Quinn!

Former Sales Co-ordinator, Cera Thorpe returned to work at the start of October from maternity leave, as the newly appointed, Sales Administration Assistant. She is settling well into her new role, which comprises of organising and collating paperwork and data from the Sales Department, resulting in the admin side running more efficiently. With valuable experience in both Sales and Customer Services, we are confident that Cera will do a great job!

As Dionne will be concentrating on Europe, former Sales Supervisor, Heather Adsett has been deservedly promoted to Sales Office Manager. As most of you know, Heather has been an integral part of Claygate since its establishment in the bathroom industry and has been heavily involved with the steady progression of the company. Heather has been vital to the Sales department, providing training to new members of the team and acting as a source of support and guidance as a whole. Heather’s great rapport with our customer base and the team emphasises how ideal she is for the role and we are confident that she will lead the department assertively into the next phase of expansion. Although both Heather and Dionne will be focusing on separate sides of the Sales

department, they will still both be working closely with Sales Director, Malcolm Thomas. Former Area Sales Manager, Paula Sayers has also been promoted to the new position of Field Sales Manager. Alongside managing her current area, Paula will also be supervising the other Area Sales Managers and their areas. Paula joined the team in early 2004 and has been an Area Sales Manager ever since. Gaining valuable experience and knowledge throughout her time at Claygate, Paula has been another vital figure within Sales and has built exceptional connections with customers. We congratulate both Heather and Paula on their thoroughly deserved promotions and we look forward to continuing to work into the next phase of Claygate’s operation with them.

AVERAGE PRICE INCREASES 1ST JANUARY 2015

The 2013 event was such a success that the Claygate Blazing Paddles geared up for another eventful day

of paddling to their hearts content in this year’s Dragon Boat Race at Bewl Water, Lamberhurst. All in aid of their chosen charity, Demelza Hospice Care for Children, the Blazing Paddles took to the water in similar style as the previous year; Blue curly wigs, pink polo shirts and participated in three quick races across the water. With the crew looking the most colourful team at the event and getting into the spirit of things, it was extremely difficult for them to be unnoticed.

With their attire firmly in place, the Claygate Blazing Paddles took to the water with ease, paddling like crazy in all three races. Their competition was fierce, but with great effort, (and a lot of fun), the crew finished a respectable 18th out of the 41 teams that participated. Getting back onto dry land after a tiring, but fun day, the Blazing Paddles learnt that they raised a fantastic £2,772.14 for Demelza! Smashing not only this year’s target, but also last year’s, means that even more support can be given to children and families in need across the South East. Well done the Claygate Blazing Paddles and we are looking forward to next year’s event already!
