According to our ancient scriptures this universe is made of five great elements. WATER – EARTH- FIRE-ETHER-AIR. With our population increasing more than 200% in last fifty years. In 1950 India had 400 million people using the same natural resources as what is used by now 1220 Million people. This has caused great pressure on our natural resources. This is alarming with future generation not seeing any natural resources.

We at EKSO driven by strong environmental commitments to save and preserve the most precious natural resource WATER.

Even as 54 per cent of India’s total population does not have access to clean and safe toilets (according to a UNICEF finding for 2008), experts have criticized the government for its ‘centralized approach’ towards sewage treatment, a critical aspect of maintaining sanitation. But experts have cautioned that building sanitation capacity without coupling it with decentralized treatment of sewage generated from it, will lead to an increase in many social and health problems.

The report, one of the most recent ones available, has stated that the position of sewage treatment is “dismal” in the country. Though human waste is not the only component of sewage, it forms an important component in spreading pollution to the water bodies.arming the substantial emphasis on centralized sewer system as faulty and impractical,, “It is impossible to cover all the towns and cities in India with this kind of centralized sewage system. First of all, the cost of construction, for laying down sewer lines and building treatment plants is prohibitive. Such plants need enormous quantity of water for flushing. Even the cost of maintenance is very high.”

“The decentralized method of sewage treatment will not only help provide safe sanitation to millions of deprived Indians, it will also solve a very big pollution concern and provide dignity to many, apart from generating energy,”.

Bathers are at an increased risk of contracting illnesses due to bacteria and viruses present in sewage effluent. Gastrointestinal disorders have been linked to sewage pollution, with viruses implicated as the cause. Giardiasis, Amoebic dysentery and Cholera are all carried and introduced into our daily water sources by sewage contaminated water systems.

Certain fish in contaminated waters can accumulate high levels of toxic substances. When these foods are consumed frequently over a lifetime, they may increase the consumers’ risk of adverse health effects. Detergents in water sources can cause liver and kidney damage, while sewage water carries diseases such as Giardiasis, Amoebic dysentery and Cholera. The list is endless of the health hazards our sewage contaminated water system in India carries.

Our company EKSO’s water recycling plants, are best suitable for small and medium  social habitats.   It is a complete Independent Sewage Treatment System . It is a biological reactor, which can be installed in small colonies, villages, house blocks and independent houses. We can treat this water further with our latest scientific technology created by our team from Europe which can optimize the reuse of our most precious natural resource water. We at Ekso Hydro Clean Tech (P) Ltd. are a joint venture with Ekso Russia which are in Water Recycling from last two decades.  We hereby present our ready to install  Water Recycling Plants.

•It’s a very compact plant which requires less area than other plant and very little or no civil work is required as it is a completely build up plant.•Whereas normal sewage/Domestic water treatment plants(10000 liters capacity) requires a load of 5 H.P whereas the same capacity Esko water recycling plant requires almost minimum power.•Almost all sewage treatment plant requires skilled operators where as Esko water recycling plant don’t require any skilled operators.•Maintenance cost of Esko Plant is very very low in comparison to other similar sewage treatment plants.

How different is Esko Water Recycling Plant

•There is no problem of rusting in this plant.•Esko plant can withstand Prolonged Power Failure. In case of power failure, Esko Plant continuous operations as a standard septic tank, the clarified water quality is naturally low, as is the case with any septic tank, when there is power failure then the water supply/well pump is also de-energized, so the amount of discharged water depends greatly on the capacity of the water storage tank which is not usually not so big. Negative envirmental impacts are reduced. Safe power failure period is up to 6 hours. In case the plant is de-energized for a longer period of time, then it required 2 days to achieve it’s natural operating conditions without user interference.•Sludge is separated automatically into “ Activated Sludge stabilizer” where the sludge undergoes aerobic stabilization (complete oxidation) the it is pumped off with the supplied pump( part of delivery set) or with any other drain pump. It can be than used as fertilizer for lawn grass.•Usually a concrete sewage water treatment plant/Mechanical Sewage water Treatment plant have life span of 8 to 20 years. Whereas Esko Plant self life is unlimited because there is no corrosion.

APPLICATION RANGE OF THE LTP BIOXY-1

Local Treatment Plant BIOXY-1 (hereinafter referred to as LTP BIOXY-1) is intended for recycling of only household sewage of the individual buildings, farms, cottages or other facilities with number of residents or visitors being less or equal to the LTP capability, mentioned in the division “Technical characteristics of the LTP BIOXY-1”.The LTP BIOXY-1 is used in the cases when there is no possibility to connect the building to the host sewerage system. If there is such a possibility, water treated by the host sewerage system can be used for watering or for other technical purposes to save water resources.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATIONAs a basis of the LTP BIOXY-1 operation were taken the principle of the multistage sewage treatment by active sludge maintained in the suspension state in the tanks with different degrees of oxygen saturation and different principles of the solution aeration (large or small bubbling), the principle of the consecutive settling of the sludge in the tank without aeration and the principle of the sludge rotation around the subsurface secondary clarifier (SSC).Integrated sewage treatment is carried out in the way of multistage biological method with subsequent disinfection of the treated water.

COMMON INFORMATION

LTP BIOXY-1 has complete factory preparedness and is united self-bearing tank divided in functional units. The tank is made of light high-strength foamed polypropylene in the way of extruder welding. Thickness of the walls is 10-19 mm. The tank is not self-bearing and needs external strengthening by the operational or alarm level and could be installed only being embedded in soil correspondingly. Due to its dimensions the tank is easy to transport. Installation of the LTB BIOXY-1 does not require heavy lifting equipment. The LTP BIOXY-1 is usable both the whole year round and seasonally. The LTP BIOXY-1 is designed for operation in the regions with following climatic conditions:- winter specified temperature up to -40С;-relief – does/not matter;-groundwater level - unregulated;-soils: with regulatory frost zone 1,7 m

Page 8: Wastewater Treatment Plants By Ekso Hydro Clean Tech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

Household waste water undergoes 4 purification stages in the LTP BIOXY-1:1 stage: preliminary purification by large bubbling aeration (LBA) in the receiving tank-averager. 2 stage: sewage treatment by active sludge in the suspended state provided with the high air oxygen saturation level of the solution by mix rotation around the SSC under the impact of SBA and mix transit in the downstream direction, where denitrification takes place.3 stage: sludge settling in the SSC and its separation from the treated water in the pre-upper zone of the SSC. 4 stage: self-purification of the plant. Bio-film removal from the SSC and STC by the increase of the level in the aerotanks of the 1st and 2nd stages provided by the fast treated water delivery from the tank for clean water by the flushing pump with simultaneous purification of the bottom zone of the tank for clean water. At the same time flushing of the all airlifts of the plant, top zone of the SSC and the STC is going on. Self-purification mode is switched on by the time relay. The LTP BIOXY-1 is completely automated, provided with warning system and could be additionally provided with the equipment signalized to the central emergency panel or to the mobile telephone about the appearance of the alarm situation through the channel of 900 MHz of the GSM-standard.

TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS OF TREATMENT Preliminary purification.Waste waters goes by them self through the inlet pipeline to the receiving tank-averager, where mechanical and preliminary microbiological purification is going on. Sewage undergoes to the affect of the large bubbling aeration (LBA) in the cell of the receiving tank-averager. Preliminary treated water is delivered to the aerotank by the main pump-airlift. Large particles of the sewage non-scattered by the LBA in the receiving tank-averager have been stopped by the large fraction filter and have been driven off by the external blowing of the filter. Diameter of the apertures of the filter is 10 mm. Larger particles stay in the receiving tank, smaller ones go with water into the filter. Intake aperture of the main pump-airlift is in the lower part of the filter. Before this aperture the mix goes through 2 hair-trap arrays with flash hitches, which are enough effective to stop hair and other insoluble particles which are the main reason of main pump-airlift choking. The mix underwent these 2 arrays flows to the intake aperture of the main pump-airlift and is directed upwards with air bubbles affected by the compressed air from the air lines. Then it goes to outlet of the pump and stays in the top part of the airtank. The productivity of the one-stage main pump-airlift depends on the level in the receiving tank. The higher is level, the higher is productivity. To restrict productivity on the level of 1/24 of the daily productivity per hour is possible by using of the two-stage main pump.

Page 10: Wastewater Treatment Plants By Ekso Hydro Clean Tech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

Oxidation - nitrification.Preliminary treated in the receiving tank-averager waste water is directed by the main pump-airlift to the airtank for further purification. It is oxygenated (aerated) by the submersible aerational small bubbling unit in the tank “A” of the aerotank. At the same time intensive mixing of the aerated water is going on. The mechanism of purification in the aerotank is based on the biological process of pollutants removal by the active sludge (groups of bacteria dwelling in colonies in the suspended in the water state). In general these microorganisms are aerobic bacteria, which are able to exterminate both dissolved (for ex. sugar) and colloidal (for ex. flour) pollutants of water in the oxidation-nitrification tank “A” of the aerotank due to dissolved oxygen, as these bacteria feed on the pollutants and multiply accordingly. To make reproduction of bacteria faster and more effective there is an opportunity to use microbiological preparations composed of living cells and ferments hastening decay process. Degree of metabolic activity reaches the point, when bacteria become numerous and begin to gather in macro-colonies, including small particles suspended in the water in the unit too. Thereby there are generated flakes of 1 to 10 mm. The flakes are denser then water and therefore they are directed to the bottom on the next stage of purification. When oxidation is going on, pollutants are partially transformed to water and carbon dioxide, but most of them are used by bacteria for growth and multiplication. As a result, most of all organic pollutants is exterminated and reactions for cleaning of the nitrogen fraction are stimulated.Nitrogen is removed in 2 stages. First is nitrification. It is carrying out in the same tank, which was used for oxidation-nitrification (tank “A”) due to the oxygen presence.

Page 11: Wastewater Treatment Plants By Ekso Hydro Clean Tech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

Ammonia, dissolved ammoniates and decay products of proteins are oxydated and transformed first to nitrites, then to nitrates. On the next stage of denitrification the nitrates are rebuild to gaseous nitrogen which is not a pollutant .The mix under the impact of the difference of the specific weights in the left and right parts of the aerotank goes to the zone of the upper channels of the AT and flows to the second part of the aerotank, where there is no aeration. Being involved in the rotation around the secondary subsurface clarifier the liquid goes in the descending direction to the mouth of the SSC. If concentration of the dissolved oxygen in the solution is small, reactions of denitrification are going with free nitrogen release. The process of the mix rotation around of the SSC is going on uninterruptedly (as well as aeration in the aerotank), giving no opportunity for generation of the stagnation zones. Constant alternation of the oxygen saturation grade of the solution causes alternation of the biological processes inside of the rotated mix.As much mix is added from the receiving tank-averager, as mush quantity of the liquid goes through the mouth of the SSC in the volume of the SSC, where there is no aeration and sludge is not able to go up because of its specific weight (1,1gr./cm3). Particles of the sludge are gravitationally stopped and water continues go up. Outlet hole of the SSC is in its upper part, 100 mm lower then its top maximal level. Lightweight insoluble particles die to its smaller specific weight go up and concentrate in the top part of the SSC generating biofilm with thickness increasing gradually.

Page 12: Wastewater Treatment Plants By Ekso Hydro Clean Tech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

DenitrificationNitrates generated in the tank of oxidation-nitrification are transformed into gaseous nitrogen (without smell) on the stage of denitrification carried out mostly in the 2nd zone of the aerotank and in the SSC. Sludge separated from the water goes down to the lower part of the SSC, where dissolved oxygen is almost absent, contacts with organic substance, rotated in the aerotank. Therefore the conditions for denitrification are generated and mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide without any smell is removed to the atmosphere through ventilation system of the sewerage. Sludge stabilizationActive sludge has life cycle of birth and death, but it grows constantly depending on organic load on the input to the aerotank.Sludge surplus contains organic fraction and inorganic fraction (minerals). If there is no waste water delivery to the aerotank, biomass in the sludge feeds by itself and decreases fast and strongly.Rest organic fraction together with inorganic ones is to be removed periodically. When sludge mix reaches the 25% level of the aerotank filing, it is delivered by the sludge pump-airlift to the stabilizer module. The process goes on uninterruptedly during the whole period of the LTP operation. Young , functional sludge is less dense then old one and seeks to stay in the upper zone of the stabilizer. Old and less workable sludge seeks to go down to the bottom of the stabilizer. in this lower zone there are large bubbling aerators effectively protecting sludge from the conglomeration. The sludge gradually dies out (stabilizes) in the conditions of the constant mixing and is getting prepared for removal. Lightweight sludge comes back to the aerotank through overflow aperture and continues work.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE OPERATIONThe most important factors affecting the biological activity of the microorganisms are:-temperature of the waste water; It should be +15- 30°С (If it could be colder then 15°С, there is a need of pipe heat insulation);-presence of the organic matter in the sewage;-over- or underloading of the LTP; for normal and stable operation of the LTP, its temporary overloading has to be less then 20% of its rated capacity;-oxygen intake to the plant;-absence of toxic substances (chemicals exterminating microflora, for ex., chlorine, strong acids, antibiotics) in the sewage; There is a need to observe following rules to keep the system working well for a long time: It is forbidden:-to discharge to the sewage system decomposed vegetables debris;-to discharge to the sewage system material debris (sand, lime, etc.);-to discharge to the sewage system polymer and other non-degradable substances (including condoms, hygienic bags, cigarette filters, cigarette packaging etc.), as it can cause pump choking and as a consequence performance loss of the LTP;-to discharge to the sewage system scourage of the pool filters;-to discharge storm waters;-to discharge to the sewage system waste waters from bleaching washing by chlorinated agents (persalt, for ex.);-to discharge to the sewage system medicines and pharmaceutical compositions;-to discharge to the sewage system machinery oils, acids, alkalis, alcohol etc.;-to discharge to the sewage system big quantities of domestic animals hair;-to discharge to the sewage system big quantities of fat; it is obligatory for cafes and restaurants to use mechanical grease trap.

Page 14: Wastewater Treatment Plants By Ekso Hydro Clean Tech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi

It is allowed:-to discharge to the sewage system tissue;-to discharge to the sewage system waste waters from washing machines given no usage of chlorine-containing detergents (after big washings there is a need to add one doze of bioactivator);-to discharge to the sewage system kitchen sewage;- to discharge to the sewage system bathing and showering waste waters. OTHERS:The LTP BIOXY-1 operates normal by voltage deviation from the nominal up to +10%. If there is power outage not longer then 3 hours, the LTP does not lose performance. It continues to work as four-stage clarifier and provides purification of the waste waters from fat and subsurface sewage. When power supply is reconnected, the LTP moves into a normal working mode.If there is water conditioning system, there is a need of an additional consultation with a technical specialist. The LTP is provided with standard pump, set of hoses and edge device for service flushing and for filing of the tank for reagent.
