deal of self-expression for Darcie; often times helping him through life’s hard times. As he grew older, Darcie discovered his love for cooking. He took great pride in learning new recipes, techniques, and making sure everyone that he cooked for had a delicious meal.

The family and friends of Darcie will remember him for his giving, helping, and humble personality. He was never one to say no and always put others before himself. The interest he had in traditional practices, were great teachers of this. His life’s journey was spent with Hans and “The Boys” learning songs, language, and the culture.

Darcie is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Rebecca (Padilla) Fredericks of Anadarko, OK; children, Darcie Jr. Fredericks of Anadarko, OK and Ricky Anderson of Mandaree, ND; his father, Elmer Fredericks Sr. of Mandaree, ND; sisters, Bonnie and Joan Fredericks of New Town, ND, Sharon Fredericks of Mandaree, ND and Kathleen Fredericks of Grand Forks, ND; nephew, Michael Fredericks of Mandaree, ND; niece, Andrea Fredericks of New Town, ND.

Darcie was preceded in death by: his mother, Delores Baker-Fredericks; his brothers, Elmer Fredericks Jr., and Cletus Fredericks.

Darcie Greg Fredericks, Sr. was born on July 30, 1977 in Stanley, ND. He was the youngest of 7 children born to Elmer Fredericks Sr. and the late Delores Baker-Fredericks. He was a member of the Hidatsa Flint Knife Clan. Darcie grew up on his family’s ranch east of Mandaree along the shore of Lake Sakakawea. As a child, you could always catch Darcie outside riding his bicycle; later graduating to motorcycles and ATV’s. Darcie’s personality was very animated and joyful. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Growing up on a ranch meant learning hard work and many other skill sets that he would later use in life. Darcie attended Mandaree Public School and St. Mary’s Catholic School in New England.

At the age of 23, Darcie married Rebecca Padilla on January 12, 2001 in Dickinson, ND. They established their life on the Fredericks Ranch where they later made their living off of raising cattle. During this time, the skills and lessons taught by his father Elmer would prove invaluable as he became self employed and a father. On January 26, 2001 Darcie and his wife Rebecca welcomed their son Darcie Jr. into this world. Rebecca, Ricky and Darcie Jr. were his priority. Darcie always put them first and did whatever he could to provide for them. Through ranching and a determined mindset, Darcie was able to purchase his own semi where he taught himself how to drive and obtained a CDL. With that, Darcie could always provide for his family; something he was very proud of. They later moved to Oklahoma where their children would be open to more opportunity.

Darcie had many gifts and talents in life. He loved being creative in painting, music, and later cooking. Like his late mother Delores, Darcie enjoyed art as a whole but gravitated towards music. He picked up the guitar as a teenager and played it throughout his life. Music and playing the guitar provided a great
