the cutting steps. 1 yard panel, SB20220-780 • 3 strips 1 1/2" x WOF dark blue swirls from each long edge of panel (6 strips total) for pieced borders and side border strips. Trim 2 strips to 36 1/2" lengths for side borders. • 1 rectangle approximately 16 1/2" x 21 1/2", cutting 1/4" out from the inside of the black line on the side edges of center motif and centering the motif in the 21 1/2" length. • 4 squares 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" with motifs centered. 2/3 yard dark blue swirls, SB20103-780 • 1 strip 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strips for border corners. • 3 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for top/bottom borders. • 5 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding. 1/2 yard white fish, SB20038-100 • 4 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for pieced borders. • 4 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; trim to (2) 36 1/2" lengths and (2) 30 1/2" lengths for borders. 5/8 yard navy fish, SB20038-780 • 2 strips 3 1/2" x WOF; cut into (6) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles and (4) 3 1/2" squares. • 4 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; trim to (2) 36 1/2" lengths and (2) 30 1/2" lengths for borders.

7/8 yard green lily pads, SB20040-850 • 1 strip 13 1/4" x WOF; cut into (1) 13 1/4" square and (2) 7 1/4" squares. • 2 strips 2" x WOF; cut each strip into (1) 2" x 21 1/2" strip and (1) 2" x 19 1/2" strip for panel frame (to total 2 of each strip). • 4 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; trim to (2) 36 1/2" lengths and (2) 30 1/2" lengths for borders. 5/8 yard white swirls, SB20053-101 • 1 strip 7 1/4" x WOF; cut into (2) 7 1/4" squares and (4) 3 7/8" squares. Cut the 7 1/4" squares twice diagonally to make 8 C triangles and cut the 3 7/8" squares in half diagonally to make 8 A triangles. • 2 strips 3 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 3 1/2" x 6 7/8" rectangles, (4) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles and (4) 3 1/2" squares. 1/3 yard medium blue circles, SB20171-740 • 2 strips 3 7/8" x WOF; cut into (16) 3 7/8" squares, then cut in half diagonally to make 32 triangles. 3 yards patch print, SB20033-850 (backing only) • 2 pieces 52" x WOF

Piecing the Units Note: Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching.

1. Cut each green 13 1/4" square and 7 1/4" square twice diagonally and use only the triangles shown to keep

2. Layer (2) 3 1/2" x 6 7/8" white rectangles right side up and 2 rectangles wrong side up in 1 stack. Measure

3 1/2" from the bottom right corner and make a mark. Cut from the mark to the top right corner to make 2 right angled end pieces and 2 left angled end pieces.

3. Sew a medium blue triangle to the short bottom edge of each white angled piece. Press seam toward the blue

triangle. Stitch the pieced units to the short edges of the 2 large green triangles to make 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" E units. Press seams toward the green triangles.

4. Stitch a medium blue triangle to the short edges of the 4 small green triangles to make 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" units.

Press seams toward the blue triangles. Sew a 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" white rectangle to each pieced unit to make (4) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" B units. Press seams toward the white rectangles.

5. Sew a medium blue triangle to the short edges of 6 white C triangles to make 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" units. Press seams toward the blue triangles. Stitch a 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" navy fish rectangle to each pieced unit to make (6) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" C units. Press seams toward the navy rectangles. Set aside 2 leftover C triangles for another use.

Make 6 C Unit — Make 6

6. Stitch a medium blue triangle to each white A triangle to make (8) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" triangle units. Press seams toward the blue triangles. Sew a navy fish 3 1/2" square to 4 triangle units to make 2 each 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" A units and reversed AR units, paying close attention to the positioning of the seam in the triangle unit. Press seams toward the navy squares. Repeat with white 3 1/2" squares and the 4 remaining triangle units to make 2 each D and reversed DR units. Press seams toward the white squares. 2. Trim the framed panel to 18 1/2" x 24 1/2" with the panel centered in the green frame.

3. Join 1 A unit, 1 reversed AR unit, 2 B units and 1 C unit to make the 3 1/2" x 24 1/2" left border strip. Press seams away from the B units. Repeat to make the right border strip. Sew the strips to the long sides of the framed panel. Press seams toward the framed panel.

4. Join 1 D unit, 1 reversed DR unit, 2 C units and 1 E unit to make the 6 1/2" x 30 1/2" top border strip. Press seams toward the C units. Repeat to make the bottom border strip. Stitch the strips to the top and bottom of the framed panel to complete the 30 1/2" x 36 1/2" quilt center. Press seams toward the border strips.

5. Stitch a 1 1/2" x WOF dark blue swirls strip lengthwise together with a 1 1/2" x WOF white fish strip to make a strip set. Press seam toward the dark blue strip. Repeat to make 4 strip sets. Crosscut the strip sets into (44) 3 1/2" segments. 3 1/2"

6. Join 12 segments to make a 2 1/2" x 36 1/2" side pieced border strip, turning every other segment to alternate segment colors. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make a second side strip. Repeat to make 2 strips with 10 segments in each strip for top and bottom pieced border strips.
