Water pollution
Pollution is caused by chemical substances which get into the water and make it dirty. Water pollution is mainly caused by chemical substances, bacteria and
other micro-organisms present in natural water in increased amounts. Chemical substances, organic or inorganic (mineral) are present in the form of dilutions,
dispersions and suspensions. The chemical composition of pollution is determined by natural factors, for example decomposition of substances from
soil and rocks, development and dieback of aquatic organisms and anthropogenic factors.
Contaminated water usually has an unpleasant odor and look by odor but sometimes it can be conversely.
The water can be purified in special water treatment plants or in other ways, for example by filtration.
Pollution can be divided into: * Natural contaminants –coming from the admixture contained in water (eg. salt)
* Artificial contaminants (anthropogenic), that is related to human activity - eg. waste from sewage, runoff from agriculture and municipal waste landfills.
