Watershed and Urban Hydrology Modeling Workshop
California Water and Environmental Modeling ForumSecretary of State Building Auditorium, Sacramento
June 22, 2007
Workshop Purpose
Introduce participants to:
• watershed and urban hydrology models,
• the capabilities and data requirements of each model, and
• how the models are used for specific applications.
Watershed/Urban Hydrology Models
• Quantify runoff flow rates and WQ impacts • Calculate TMDL load allocations;• Size storm water control facilities, delineating
flood plain areas, reservoir spillway design; • Evaluate storage, treatment, and other best
management practices for NP source load reductions; and
• Compare trade-offs of sewer extensions vs. on-site wastewater systems.
CWEMF
• Mission: to increase the usefulness of models for analyzing California’s water-related problems
• Provide a consensus-building atmosphere on water-related issues
CWEMF Services
• Facilitate open, constructive discussion of conflicting opinions on physical, chemical, biological, and economic modeling
• Conduct problem-solving workshops to address technical disagreements
• Organize technical training and educational workshops
CWEMF Services, cont.
• Coordinate model development, refinement, and use through interagency model user groups
• Conduct impartial peer reviews of water and environmental models
