Partnering With Job Corp for a
Pathway to Healthcare
We are pleased to announce the completion of the
second cohort enrolled in the Summer 2019 (C.N.A.)
Certified Nursing Assistant Program from Job Corp.
Students are now eligible to take the certification for the
state exams; this credential will allow for gainful
employment as a certified nursing assistant.

Dementia Awareness Training
Dr. Shawna Forbes, Dr. Abby Freeman and Mary Ann Troy met at the Northwest Campus to finalize
strategies for delivering a Dementia Awareness Training to home health care and nursing home workers.
The training will support the State of Michigan Dementia Coalition Awareness project that focuses on
patient centered care.
Road to Credentials
WCCCD’s Credentialing Center continues to provide services to organizations, professionals, and the
community. Services include test development, administer of national certification, measurement
services, and professional certification both locally and nationally.

Erika Augenstein attended RDH, Under One Roof.
This conference gathers dental hygienist from all
over the country to look at best practices.
Dr. James Robinson attended the Michigan Occupational Deans Administrative Council (MODAC)
meeting at Alpena Community College. With the new Congressional Authorization of the Carl Perkins
Act V, institutions will have new processes and thinking about how to best serve CTE students. The
primarily discussions focused on Perkins V Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st
Century Act. In addition, the upcoming TRENDS Conference was reviewed for planning purposes.
