-­‐  The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,

because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

and the day of vengeance of our God, to

comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion to bestow on them a

crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD

for the display of his splendor.

 Lord, thank you for healing our land. Thank you for binding the enemy and making him take his hand off of our city. God we pray believing that the City of Oakland will be a City of Peace and Prosperity. And that as

we humble ourselves and pray that you WILL heal our land. In the Name of Jesus

2 Timothy 2:15 In 2012, I am challenging us to “go deeper” by reading the Bible more, as well as to read select books that help us to grow and

develop in our Christian walk. There is a book list that I will be sharing with the congregation, so that we can collectively read,

reflect, study and discuss the truths and lessons that we learn. The first book that we are going to read is The Screwtape Let-

ters by C.S. Lewis. This book was originally published in 1942. We are now 70 years beyond the

original publishing, but the principles that we learn about how the enemy tricks us into defeat are still

valid. I encourage you to buy the book and read it. We look forward to a special time to discuss it

upon completion. Enjoy!
