What’s HSUPA
The HSUPA feature is in fact a new uplink transport channel–E-DCH that brought some of the same features to the uplink as the HSDPA
![Page 4: Wcdma p&o a en Hsupa 201012](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062222/55cf96da550346d0338e31bf/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)

NodeB MAC-e function
E-DCH scheduling : Used for schedule E-DCH radio resource between different UE
E-DCH control : Used for receive schedule requirement and send schedule
command;
De-multiplexing: De-multiplex MAC-e PDU and send MAC-es PDU to related MAD-
d flow
HARQ: One HARQ entity can support multiple SAW HARQ process, each
process are used to generate ACK/NACK which are used to indicate if E-DCH data are received correctly.

E-DCH
E-DCH ( Enhanced Dedicated Channel) E-DCH could support both 2 ms and 10 ms. E-DCH could support multiple codes transmission. E-DCH and DCH use independent CCTRCH When DCH and E-DCH concurrent the MBR of UL DCH is
64 Kbps.

E-AGCH
E-AGCH used for E-DCH absolute grant, each HSUPA user has only one E-AGCH channel
SF = 256 , AG are used to provide UE UL resource limitation
E-AGCH only transmit in serving cell.
![Page 15: Wcdma p&o a en Hsupa 201012](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062222/55cf96da550346d0338e31bf/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
E-RGCH
Relative Grant can be transmitted in 3,12,or 15 continuous TS.
In serving E-DCH RLS RG could be +1 、 0 or -1; In no serving E-DCH RLS RG could be 0 or -1.
3TS Cell belong to Serving E-DCH RLS 2ms
12 TS Cell belong to Serving E-DCH RLS 10 ms
15 TS Cell belong to no Serving E-DCH RLS

E-HICH
E-HICH used to transmit E-DCH HARQ ACK/NACK, SF=128
E-HICH used the same DL OVSF code with E-RGCH, The High layer signaling will separate them.
The HARQ ACK/NACK indication is transmitted in 3 or 12 continuous TS, 3TS for 2ms TTI, 12 TS for 10ms TTI.
![Page 17: Wcdma p&o a en Hsupa 201012](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062222/55cf96da550346d0338e31bf/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
E-HICH transmition If the E-HICH is coming from the radio link set contained in
the serving E-DCH radio link (transmitted from the base station that has the serving E-DCH cell),then both ACKs and NACKs are transmitted. The E-HICHs transmitted by NodeBs that do not contain the serving E-DCH cell only transmit ACKs.If such a cell does not receive the E-DPDCH TTI correctly, then it does nothing. The UE will continue retransmitting until at least one cell responds with an ACK
![Page 18: Wcdma p&o a en Hsupa 201012](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062222/55cf96da550346d0338e31bf/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
E-DPDCH/E-DPCCH E-DPDCH used to transmit E-DCH , SF2 ~ 256 E-DPCCH used to transmit E-DCH relative control info (E-
TFCI,RSN,Happy Bit) , SF=256
E-TFCI,the E-DCH transport format combination indicator of 7bits indicating the transport format being transmitted simultaneously on E-DPDCHs.
RSN,there transmission sequence number of 2bits informing the HARQ sequence number of the transport block currently being sent on E-DPDCHs.The initial transmission of a transport block is sent with RSN=0,the first with RSN=1,the Second with RSN=2,and all subsequent transmissions with RSN=3.
Happybit is1bit only.It indicates whether the UE is content with the current data rate or relative power allowed to be used for E-DPDCHs or whether it could use higher power allocation.

HSUPA scheduling
HSUPA sheduling is done by 3 physical channel, E-AGCH, E-RGCH and happy bits in E-DPDCH.
There is also SI IE in MAC-e header of E-DPDCH,which contained optional detailed message used for NodeB sheduler. Only when data volume in buffer increased or counter expired triggered SI transmission, and sheduled HSUPA cell received datagram correctly which means SI could be used.
![Page 26: Wcdma p&o a en Hsupa 201012](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062222/55cf96da550346d0338e31bf/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
HARQ
SAW HARQ HARQ process number is related to TTI number, 2ms TTI
has 8 process , 10ms TTI has 4 process 。 For UE scheduling and un-scheduling we could define specific process to transmit.
Use HARQ E-DCH support intra-Node B and inter Node B macro-diversity。

HARQ meassage
ACK/NACK IE This IE is tranmited in DL E-HICH to notify if trasport
block is received correctly.
RSN This IE is transmitted in E-DPDCH to notify HARQ
sequence number of transport block on E-DPDCH.
