Modern climbing is all about movement, on rock, on ice or both, and across the seasons; adapting skills

Wild Country brought out the first helmet that could truly claim to do the same, the Alpine Shield with

INTRODUCTION

An expanded and expansive range of karabiners gives a screwgate or autolock for each and every occasion,

from runners, to belay, to instruction. New for 2010 are our Ion, two new Synergys and a re-worked Titan –

and importantly all of our screwgates are now Keylock giving easier access and better rope clipping at all times.

NEON KEYLOCK SCREWGATE

No ifs no buts, and no way to ignore this, the Neon screw is one of the worlds lightest Screwgates

and finally makes a screwgate close to being as light as many modern snaps.

Achieved using a combination of the proven I beam technology and a little lateral thinking, the

Neon Screwgate gives safety a boost allowing more screwgates to be carried without a weight penalty.

Add to this a smooth Keylock nose and a usable gate clearance, it makes clipping and unclipping no toil –

even with gloves. And as with all the Wild Country screws the Neon’s screwgate is strong enough to

resist inward pressure as well adding an extra safety dimension.

An amazing step forward and a true weight breakthrough, the Neon screw finally ditches the penalty

of weight from a screwgate – and with its keylock nose it makes for safer climbing with no catch!!

NEW ION KEYLOCK SCREWGATE

Our code name for this biner was ‘Neon Big’ and the Ion is exactly that – a bigger version of our

mega-successful, hyperlight, Keylock screwgate biner,

The Ion is based on the same design but simply ‘scaled-up’ to give a bit more space creating a more

all round biner. Yet by only adding 7 grams there’s a minimal penalty for the extra room and the Ion

stays in that hyperlight category. Strong, shapely and neat in the hand its Keylock nose guarantees

an easy clip or strip and our high strength thimble provides a bonus safety boost.

360 HELMET

Durable, stylish and super safe the 360 is an

exceptional polycarbonate helmet built with

style and the safety credentials to blow the

opposition away.

Created to act as a cross-season all rounder the

360 is a reliable and fully featured model that will

be at home on first forays out to longer expeditions

away. Built with safety in mind the 360’s testing

pedigree is its strength. Optimal shaping, optimal

material use and top impact resistance mean great

test results, including a best in class side impact

result. This is due to Wild Country’s decision to

use more EPS than other helmets and to extend

the EPS further down the sides and back of the lid.

This makes impacts from a swinging fall safer,

adding more plusses to an already secure design.

However, this strength is not a sacrifice to weight

or fit and the 360 remains a lightweight choice.

Internally, it adjusts via a glove friendly ‘dial-system’,

cinches and releases simply and sits comfortably

on adjustable, cushioned EVA pads.

NEW SYNERGY KEYLOCK AUTOLOCK

There are some situations where it’s absolutely necessary to be sure your screwgate is closed -

so available for the safety conscious or for more select applications comes our full Autolock version.

This has a three stage bayonet and twist mechanism that makes sure it must be deliberately opened and then

when it’s let go it closes and autolocks itself - meaning that there’s no more worrying about accidental unlocking.

As with the standard screw it uses the same 12mm round bar construction, keeping a smooth profile for ropes,

and enabling it to be used with a Munter hitch and a wider range of knots. A perfect group or centre biner.

NEW TITAN KEYLOCK SCREWGATE

Making this easy clipper even smoother and enhancing it’s all around status as the best basic biner available,

the original Titan gets a Keylock nose.

So in adapting the bestselling Wild Country screwgate ever we kept it simple to make this an even more

effective model. And by combining our wider open D shape with a no-hook nose we have a great all rounder

With an easy, organic shape and intuitive feel the VC Pro 2 has been a success since

its launch and is recognised as one of the leaders on thin ropes. And it has two great

attributes to make it so: Firstly it has a smooth finish for fatter cords with a flattened

out bottom, which keeps the biner a bit further away and decreases grab. Secondly to

give even more bite on ever-decreasing diameter skinny ropes, the V slots are deep,

accepting even the thinnest ropes to give a firmer grip.

STANDARDS

3~0THREE SIGMA

The Three Sigma Rating system is a method of Statistical

Quality Control (SQC) which we use to describe, analyse,

and control the rated strengths of our products. For each

batch produced, a statistically representative sample is taken

and tested to destruction in accordance with the relevant

European Standard for that product and/or our own approved

internal Quality Assurance Procedures.

These procedures are an integral part of our Quality Assurance

System. From the data obtained from destruction testing,

the average (or mean) and sample standard deviation (which

is a measure of variance based upon the results obtained)

is calculated. 3õ is three times the sample standard deviation.

When 3õ is deducted from the mean result obtained, we can

predict the spread of results which would be obtained if we

were to destroy the entire batch (which is why we sample

only!). We monitor this data closely from batch to batch to

ensure that the rated strength (as marked on the product)

is always less than the mean minus three times the sample

standard deviation. This ensures that the minimum breaking

strength for all products is consistently higher than the rated

strength as marked on the product.

ISO9OO1:2000 QUALITYASSURED FIRMWild Country is registered to International Standard ISO 9001:

2000 (Certificate No. C/7545.Q/2678). This is the

internationally-accepted model for Quality Assurance

Management Systems, which has been adopted in over

150 countries worldwide.

UIAA SAFETY LABELThe UIAA Safety Label can be awarded for mountaineering

and climbing equipment that meets the requirements of the

relevant UIAA standard. In order to prevent unnecessary

multiplicity of standards, the UIAA standards are based on the

European standards (EN standards, also called CEN standards).

The EN standards, in turn, are based on the former UIAA

standards, which were the first standards for mountaineering

and climbing equipment in the world. The present UIAA

standards may have higher and/or additional requirements

above those in the EN standards.

CE CERTIFICATIONWhere required by law (European Union Directive 89/686/EEC –

for Personal Protective Equipment). Wild Country products are

type examined, tested and certified.

The organisation responsible for our ISO 9001 Quality System

and CE marking is Notified Body No. 0120 SGS UK Ltd
