CITY OF HALLE

The location of the city of Halle (Saale) in the heart of Germany makes it a cultural hotspot and an

attractive destination for international visitors. The opera house of Halle (Saale) and many theatres and

music houses are cultural highlights. Regarding culture, the city is stuffed with castles, churches – the

wonderful cathedral of Halle – museums and the worth to see the old town of Halle. The center of the

city, which is a traditional university site – has a vivid nightlife with bars, restaurants and dancing

facilities.

VENUE

The gymnasium Brandberge in Halle (Saale) was built in 1997 as part of the Olympic centre for

athletic sports. Since that time, it is used for training of the athletes and competitions on national as

well as on international level. Despite its original conception for athletic sports (it contains four 200-

meter-round-tracks, eight 60-Meter- competition tracks, a long jump facility, one high jump facility,

one pole vault facility and one shot put facility) the gymnasium can be easily converted for other

sports purposes – even for cultural offers.

The gym is equipped with bathrooms, showers and changing rooms for all athletes. Furthermore, there

are separate rooms for the organizing committee as well as for doping tests. With a focus on the

audience, the gymnasium Brandberge provides with 1.840 seats for visitors and has a total capacity of

3.500 visitors. The nearby TRAM-stop "Schwuchtstraße" and the allocate parking facility provides

additional comfort for audience and athletes.

APPROACH

Halle (Saale) is located in the center of Germany. It can be easily accessed via plane, train and car.

The international airport of Halle/ Leipzig provides with flights to many international destinations and

can be accessed from Halle (Saale) within just 20 minutes. Halle (Saale) main station offers many

connections to German cities as well as to other European cities. Last but not least the car tracks of the

A9, A14, and A38 are close. Thus Halle (Saale) is ideally connected regarding traffic.
