Program Outcomes In the 2016-2017 Fiscal Year, BMAC helped 5,209 individuals in 2,620 families meet their vital needs and work toward self–

sufficiency. Each person that comes through our doors has an unique story, but they often share a common experience. The 0

challenges they face every day make it seemingly impossible to escape the cycle of poverty unaided. 93% of our clients have at

least one income source; 62% earn that income from employment. And yet, even for clients with multiple jobs, making ends

meet is not always achievable. 69% of BMAC’s clients make less than federal poverty level, and another 15% are just over the

poverty line. 26% of clients served are homeless when they first come to seek help. Each program has its own set of eligibility

requirements, goals, and opportunities. For more details regarding the scope of each program, visit www.bmacww.org. 1

Housing

Our Mission: To cultivate innovative services, in partnership with our community, to empower

low-income people to meet their vital needs and achieve self-sufficiency.

Our Vision: Healthy, thriving communities.

In a society where words and

language are increasingly used to

obscure or mask intent, it is

important to be clear when citing our

values. BMAC staff created a precise

list of these during an all-staff

retreat, which appears as the word

cluster on the front cover. These

values, plus a half century of experience and achievement,

have made BMAC the “go-to” agency for community

volunteers and donors. This year’s Annual Celebration will

honor their remarkable efforts and generosity.

There exists in our community a culture of giving. Whether it

is helping with a neighborhood clean-up, delivering food

boxes to seniors, providing tutoring for adults, donating

much needed appliances to the homeless, or making a direct

financial gift to a specific program, all ensure the

continuation of BMAC’s work in our community.

The photo above is of our youngest donor, Ari Kim-Leavitt,

donating his birthday money to the agency. His willingness to

share exemplifies how giving and empathy starts at an early

age; Ari belongs to a new generation of advocates for people in

need. I am encouraged.

This report contains BMAC’s volunteers and donors, plus a

financial pie chart. We’ve also tabulated an impressive set of

numbers served—over 5,000 individuals, with an additional

20,000 referrals and inquiries. The specific programs providing

services show impressive outcomes, but the context of what we

do can only be supplied by the narrative—the stories behind the

numbers. Please visit our Facebook page to learn more about

the people and BMAC: www.facebook.com/bmacww.

Thank you all for a wonderful year!
