Our New York Concierge staff helps travelers live like locals. They’re so good at it, one Arkansas family decided to relocate.

N ame an exclusive resorts location—Mark and D.J. Duckworth have been there. Mem-bers for eight years, they’ve traveled the

world on vacations, Journeys and Events as a couple and with their 8-year-old son, Corbin, in tow. “It’s a completely different experience, staying in a home in-stead of a hotel,” says Mark. “It’s so much more com-fortable when we travel with friends and family.”

In fact, the in-residence experience led the Duck-worths to make a major life change—relocating from their native Arkansas to the heart of New York City. They had been to New York before, but when traveling with Exclusive Resorts, they ate and lived like locals in tasteful, well-appointed apartments instead of like tourists in a hotel. “The concierges knew every square inch of the city,” says Mark.

“I got to know The Meatpacking District, Greenwich Vil-lage, Soho…we got more off the beaten path,” says D.J.

Mark began researching apartments while in New York and back in Arkansas. The Exclusive Resorts concierge in New York would check out places for him on her days off. Because the concierge knew the family so well, she knew exactly what they were looking for. At an open house, the concierge met the broker who found the family their ideal apartment. And the rest is history. One great thing about New York—it’s an excellent travel hub for the Duckworths as they continue to explore new destinations and old favorites in the Exclusive Resorts portfolio.

A DRAGON’S

TALEWhat’s important to you is important to us. When one little girl lost her favorite

stuffed dragon, our Wailea Concierge got him home in style—but not before giving

him his own extraordinary vacation.

W hen andrew and suzy Judson arrived at our Ho’olei residences on Maui for their spring break vacation, they were excited

for family time with their three daughters Katie, Sam and Ellie—and Ellie’s very close friend Pumpkin, her stuffed dragon. The Exclusive Resorts concierge, Kelly, welcomed the family and Pumpkin to the island and helped them plan their perfect Hawaiian vacation.

On the morning of the Judson family’s departure, Pump-kin decided to stay behind for a little sightseeing (you know how dragons love volcanoes) and didn’t make it onto the plane with the rest of the family. A very worried Ellie and her family immediately called Kelly back in Maui to arrange Pumpkin’s trip home to Calgary.

He made it home, but not before having a little mini-break of his own. Kelly arranged for a special private escapade for Pumpkin, showing him all of the dragon-friendly sights and documenting his adventure along the way. When Pumpkin returned home via his private charter flight (courtesy of FedEx), he brought with him a special video story that Kelly had created to show Ellie all of the fun he had. To this day, Hawaii remains Pumpkin’s favorite vacation ever.

T wo days of training and a handbook—that’s all Sarah O’Neil needed to understand the VIP protocols as Spa and Recreation Manager of the

Four Seasons. A far cry from the 160 hours of intense training she would later complete at Exclusive Resorts in 2007.

Today, Sarah is Manager of Member Services, overseeing the Club’s extensive training program for its 55 Ambassadors. Under her watchful guidance, new Ambassadors spend four weeks getting to know each of

their teammates individually—from marketing and operations to even sales. The goal? To become an expert on all things member-related.

“We’re not always looking for a high-end hotel background,” says Sarah. “We want people who can connect with every member on a personal level—it’s something you can’t learn from a manual. And it’s why I never looked back.”
