The person who runs the game in the Canarian wrestling matches is the "mandador".In Punta Brava Club the "mandador" is the same person as the coach, who was named the best coach in 2010; his name is Ignacio Ramos, known as Nacho.

The games can be done in several ways. On the one hand, "la corrida", which consists of playing one against one, and each team includes sixteen players. On the other hand is the "sistema reducido" (reduced system) in which there are twelve players in each team.

In addition, there are different categories depending on the age which run from ten to nineteen years old

In competitions, there are several levels. There are the "puntal" or “prop” ("puntal” A,” puntal” B and " puntal " C), “destacado” or “prominent” (destacado A, destacado B and destacado C) and finally the rest of the team members who do not have enough points to be ‘puntales’ or ‘destacados’

There is also a female category, but it isn’t very usual.

The main rule is that you cannot touch the ground with any part of the body except with the soles of your feet and and if you break this rule, you lose. Everything is movement of hips and knees.

In Punta Brava Wrestling Club, the best player is Añaterve Abreu, who is a ‘puntal’ B, but has won against the two “puntales” that are now in the Canary Islands. ‘Puntal’ is ‘prop’, which means support in a physical or emotional way.

Francisco Javier Pérez Machin, known as "Pollito de la Frontera" has been one of the most famous “puntales” in the Canary Islands. He started Canarian wrestling when he was only six years old, and over the years his name was first heard on the Canary Islands, as it would become one of the best wrestler in history.
