How does AGNIHOTRA work?


In the ancient Vedic tradition sunrise is described in the

following way:

At sunrise the many fires, electricities, ethers and more subtle energies emanating from the sun extend all the way to the Earth and produce a flood effect at those coordinates where the sun is said to rise. It is awesome. The flood enlivens and purifies everything in its path, destroying what is impure in its wake. This torrent of life-sustaining energies causes all life to rejoice. At sunrise that music can be heard. The morning Agnihotra Mantra is the essence of that music. It is the quintessential sound of that flood. At sunset the flood recedes.

Sunrise and Sunset Timesheets

There is always a difference between visible and true sunrise/sunset timings. This difference is due mainly to a refraction effect (bending) as the sun's rays enter the relatively dense atmosphere of the earth.

There are several definitions of sunrise/sunset given in Veda.

For Agnihotra the definition used is sun's position one and a half discs above the horizon when the refraction effect is taken into account.

Practically speaking this means that at sunrise the sun will appear to have already risen at the correct timing of Agnihotra.

And at sunset the sun will appear to have not yet set at the correct timing.

The difference in time between the visible and true timings may vary by up to as much as 5 minutes.

Dry Cow Dung For preparing Agnihotra fire we use dried

dung from the male and female progeny of a cow.

In traditional medicines it was common practice to heal diseases using cow dung preparations. Cow dung is also known as a disenfectant.

According to Italian scientists, the scent of fresh cow dung itself reduces the fever in malaria and removes pathogenic bacteria.

Russian scientists discovered that covering objects and walls of houses with cow dung protects them from radiation.

Agnihotra Ash and Radioactivity

Particularly effective results with respect to elimination or redaction in the radioactivity were achieved through Agnihotra fire and ash.

Radiesthetists in Białystok (Poland) measured every couple of hours the radioactivity in the atmosphere and drinking water. Two weeks later these measurements were compared with the official data of the International Atomic Energy Agency. They concurred with each other to a great extent.
