Introduction: fixed glazing seals
Several processes compete in the fixed glazing seal sector:
• Extruded seals (“rubber bands”) in which a continuous seal is stuck on the glazing prior to installation Windshields and backlights EPDM, TPE
• Overmoulding where glass is placed into a mould and material is injected onto and around it (Low pressure injection) Rear/Front quarter windows PU-RIM, PVC, EPDM, TPE
• Robotic extrusion in which a robot deposits a profile on the glass (St Gobain process) Windshields and backlights Air-cured PU, TPE
