We have focused on investments in wind power plant logistics in order to cater to the needs of the energy sector. Moving with the vision that wind energy will become one of the most important means for accessing clean energy in Turkey in the near future, we have developed a solution that makes a difference and creates value within this framework.

Approximately 2,5 million US dollars was spent for an investment comprising new equipment that is used for the first time in Turkey and also new infrastructures. We expanded our existing heavy vehicle park and increased our service capacity by investing in new trailers with 8 and 10 axes, 6x4 tractors and the Rotor Blade Adaptor.

Continuing to expand its land fleet, in 2012 Borusan Lojistik launched heavy transportation services as the first logistics company to enter this challenging field of business until then dominated by transportation companies.

With our self-owned lowbed vehicles in varying capacities, we carry out the transportation of out of gauge and heavy tonnage cargo domestically and internationally in collaboration with our contracted suppliers.

Our heavy vehicle park which we expanded through an investment in 2016 and our

new Rotor Blade Adaptor equipment, combined with our engineering solutions, give

us the edge for offering our customers special solutions, especially in the wind energy

sector.

We have implemented our Rotor Blade Adaptor project making a great difference in

the transportation of wind power plants. Thanks to this technology, we are able to lift

the approximately 60 meter long blades up to 50 degrees and rotate them

-/+ 110 degrees, curtailing environmental impact by 30%, reducing road construction

costs and cutting down on waiting periods. This transportation model which we

first executed in 2016 has placed Borusan Lojistik in the global league of energy

transportation while allowing us to lead the way in Turkey.

Borusan Port leads the general cargo market in its region, mainly handling steel products (rolled steel, pipes, sheet metal, steel profiles

and other steel product), palletized goods, big bags and packaged products. The our port has an annual capacity of 5.000.000 tons,

and handles 6.000 tons of cargo in average per day.

Offering customers bonded and unbonded warehouses and A-type entrepot areas, Borusan Port manages all processes in an

integrated way within the framework of ‘ship loading, unloading, terminal and warehousing services’.

With a terminal area recently expanded to accommodate at least 7,000 vehicles, Borusan

Port leads the regional competition in terms of vehicle park. Thanks to the proximity of the

park area to the berth, cars can be loaded on Ro-Ro ships at an average rate of 130 vehicles

per hour. Our port vehicle capacity is 350.000 vehicles per year.

Innovation and R&D

eTAeTA (Electronic Transportation Network), launched in 2012, is an innovation project aiming electronic

transformation in domestic full load transportation. With eTa, which functions as an electronic market

platform, we collect SMEs’ demands for full domestic truck transportation via internet and match

them with individual truck operators over mobile technologies. The transportation followed by these

matches is insured, monitored on a 7/24 basis and supported by Borusan Lojistik.

eTA, breaking new ground in the sector, provides service for SMEs via internet and for individual

truckers via mobile technologies thus increasing the cost advantages and gains of both sides based

on a win-win approach.

SMEs receive transportation services at best prices within a dynamic pricing infrastructure, enjoy the

advantage of monitoring their insured transportations and get call center support with the assurance

of Borusan. And the truckers can access numerous job assignments fast and ensure continuity of

work as well as gaining cost advantages and efficiency. By the end of 2016 eTA has successfully

reached 55,000 truckers and 6.500 SMEs.

BukoliBukoli is a flexible and reliable delivery model used in online shopping. While shopping on e-commerce

sites, consumers are presented with a Bukoli map at the stage of delivery options from which they

can select the best Bukoli point for themselves. Bukoli points are located in small retailers and smart

machines all over Istanbul, and consumers can pick up their orders from the point of their choice.

Thus, consumers are freed from being obliged to wait for their orders at home or at office; they can

just pick up their orders even at weekends or after hours. Thanks to Bukoli, e-commerce companies

get a new and reliable delivery option and small retailers get a chance to gain an additional income

and to increase the traffic within their shops.

Green Player in a Grey Sector

Determined to offset the impact of our extensive fossil fuel use on nature,

we launched an ambitious project in 2011 with the slogan “we are head

over heels for green!” Collaborating with Turkey’s leading cultural and

environmental heritage NGO Çekül, we pledged to plant a million trees in

Borusan Lojistik’s 7 Trees Forest in Ödemiş, İzmir, by 2018. And so far we

have completed the planting of 590,000 trees. The project also involves

the indirect participation of our business partners as we plant a tree in our

7 Trees Forest for each 10 transports and 10 container handlings.

In other words,

“When customers choose to work with us, we plant a tree on their behalf

for every 10 transports or 10 container handlings they commission.”

By now tree planting has also gained a place as an integral rite in all our

ceremonies. We celebrate every employee’s birthday, marriage and new

baby with a tree for each occasion.

We are head Over Heels for Green

Our environmental policies include engaging all our stakeholders,

providing necessary information and resources, strict compliance

with laws and regulations, preemptive action and continuous

improvement.

In keeping with our commitment to preemptive action, we received

ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard Certification

beginning from 2004.

In 2012 we qualified for ISO 50001 Energy Management system

and ISO 14064 Carbon Footprint Verification as the first Turkish

logistics company to be awarded both certificates simultaneously.

We implement a system called “Fast Card” with our suppliers

in order to reduce carbon emission and an annual of 24 million

liters fuel sale is actualized with this card. This figure reveals

that half of our card-holding suppliers have given up on using

# 10 oil as fuel and switched to diesel instead – corresponding

to the reduction of CO2 emission by 33,294 tons annually.

We replaced 30 gasoline-powered cars in our fleet with models

that consume less fuel and produce less carbon emission.

In keeping with our corporate mission of “Making A Difference

For The Benefit Of Your Business” and avoid environmental

damage, we have prevented the excavation of 10,000 truck

loads of soil by our Rotor Blade Adoptor equipment which has

so far been used in a handful projects globally and for the first

time in Turkey. This meant a contribution to the maintenance

of ecological balance by preventing a soil loss of more than

100.000 m3.

Borusan Port in Gemlik is one of the first ports to acquire the

status of “Green/Eco Port” by acquiring the “Green/Eco Port

Certificate” due to its dedication to environmental sustainability.

Through projects involving conversion of RTG’s to electricity,

which were completed in 2014, we have improved our carbon

emissions by 94% which means the saving of 5.768 trees annually

and meeting the oxygen needs of 11.600 people. In its first phase,

this project generated 1,2 million kWh of energy saving and an

additional 1,5 milyon kWh was saved in the second phase of the

project which was completed in 2016. Through recycling and

improvements at our port, we have applied thermal treatment to

3.000 m3 of wood in use thereby ensuring the protection of an

additional 12,000 trees and meeting the oxygen requirements

of 25.000 people annually. With our waste recycling system, we

continue to protect at least 10.000 trees by the year.

Protection and improvement of sea water quality, reduction

of environmental pollution stemming from port operations

to minimum levels, maximization of energy efficiency in port

operations, minimization of harmful emissions, and improvement

of environment, work health and safety standards to the highest

possible levels are core issues we work relentlessly to achieve.

We continue our journey without compromising on our commitment

of “being a green player in a grey sector”.
