An overview of the OTC items benefit

The OTC items benefit offers you a convenient way to get over-the-counter health and wellness products by mail. Each plan that includes the OTC items benefit provides you with a quarterly allowance (a set amount) to purchase eligible OTC items. Order from a list of approved OTC items, and CVS OTC Health Solutions mails the items directly to your preferred address at no extra charge. Please see plan benefit documents for the OTC allowance. Some examples include pain relievers, cold and flu medications, digestive care, foot care, and more.

How do you access items available under the OTC items benefit?

The OTC items catalog available online lists eligible items.

There are two ways to place an order:

• Create an account online at blueshieldca.com/medicareOTC

• By phone at (888) 628-2770 (TTY: 711) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time, Monday through Friday. If you need a copy of the OTC items catalog please call CVS at the number above to request one.

Important things to remember about your OTC items benefit

• Allow 7–10 business days for delivery.

• You must use your full allowance amount in one order. Unused benefits will not roll over to the next quarter.

• Your order total may not exceed your allowance amount. Cash, checks, credit cards, or money orders are not accepted.

• OTC items are intended for member use only. Blue Shield of California prohibits the use of this benefit to order OTC items for family members or friends.

• Items in the OTC catalog may change throughout the year.

An over-the-counter (OTC) items benefit offered through CVS (dba OTC Health Solutions) will be available to members enrolled in the following plans with the effective date of 1/1/2020:

Blue Shield of California

• Medicare Supplement Plan G Extra

• Blue Shield Inspire (HMO) Plan – Los Angeles/Orange counties

• Blue Shield 65 PlusSM (HMO) Plan – San Luis Obispo (partial)/Santa Barbara (partial) counties

• Blue Shield 65 PlusSM Choice Plan (HMO) – San Bernardino/Riverside counties
