Chaperon - a style of fancymens hat which was popularamongst rich people in the
15th Century. It needed alot of material to make it.
Bronze handled sharpeating knife in aleather scabbard.Everyone carried
an eating knife andspoon with them.
Tight woollen hose
Long riding boots.Very expensive as they used
a lot of leather.
A wealthy 15th Century Lord like thiswould have owned a castle and manorhouses. He would have been a Knight. Hewould have servants and horses and manyfine things. He would have held importantpositions of power in parliament or thechurch.
Silk Doublet
Chain of office, showingthe lords importance.
Woollen gownfor warmth
Jewelled ring
Pouch for holding coinsand other items.Medieval clothes had nopockets. The bar of thepouch is made of brass,making it harder for acut purse to steal it.
This is the keep ofHedingham Castle in Essex,owned and built by theDevere family in circa1140AD. The keep is theonly part of the castle stillremaining. Only rich lordscould afford to live in a
home like this.
