Brent Jochum (4J) won his first feature of the season and his third career feature at the track.

Jochum returns to winner’s circle

Brent Jochum’s patience paid off last week as he cap-tured his first win of the sea-son.

The Norfolk driver followed the young Gage Koch for the first seven laps before finding his chance to take the lead.

The feature started with Koch pacing the field and with consistent laps, he kept Jochum behind him.

With two laps remain, Koch rolled into turn three and lost the handle and Jochum jumped to the inside of Koch to take the lead as the white flag dropped.

However, a caution was thrown before the field took

the checkered flag and the field was bunched for a green-white-checkered showdown.

But the order did not change in the final laps and Jochum took his third career win at the track.

Koch had his best effort of the season with second. Austin Brauner of St. Edward fol-lowed closely behind the front two cars, but could not find the hole he needed and had to settle for third.

Fourth went to Jim Kimmel of Norfolk for his fifth top 5 of the season. Rounding out the top 5 was Jeremy Hoskinson of Norfolk.

Gage Koch (96) took his second top 5 of

the season when he took the checkered

flag second.

Jim Kimmel (17K) races TeJay Mielke (77) during their heat race. Kimmel later finished fourth in the feature.

Austin Brauner (10A) races with Wes Hochstein (21B) in their heat race. He finished third in the feature.

Jack Dover (53) won the 360 Sprint special last week, as Joey Danley (14) crossed finish line second.

Billy Alley (3) finished third in the feature.

Local driver Seth Brahmer (13v) won his heat race and later finished fourth in the feature.

Eric Rutz (5) took fifth in the fea-ture.

Dover drove to victory

Jack Dover of Springfield, Neb. cap-tured the 360 sprint special last week as 20 sprint cars took to the track.

Joey Danley of Lincoln started on the outside of the front row and took advan-tage of the clear track, as he blasted away from the field.

It took him five laps to catch the back of the pack and as he worked traffic, Lincoln’s Billy Alley was closing in, as well as, Do-ver.

It was just as the three top cars were catching each other, when the first caution came out for TJ Artz of Lincoln.

On the restart, Danley took off, but Al-ley struggled to get back up to the pace he was running before the caution.

Dover managed to get by Alley in two laps and took off after Danley.

Four laps later, Dover dove to the inside of Danley to take the lead.

Dover was first, Danley took second and Alley was third. Local driver Seth Brahmer of Norfolk placed fourth as Eric Rutz of Sioux Falls, S. Dak. rounded out the top 5.

TeJay Mielke (77) lost an axle and spun out before Nate DeSive (31K) got caught up in the spin.

Dustin Jackson (22x) holds off Brooke Fluckiger (2B) in the feature. Jackson finished third and Fluckiger cross

Meyer makes it career 100th win

Ramsey Meyer picked up his fifth win of the season last week, but more importantly his 100th IMCA Sport Compact feature win.

The Pierce driver currently leads the national points as of June 16.

Meyer started on the inside of the third row and at the end of the first lap, he was leading the field.

Meyer quickly pulled away, as Dustin Jackson of O’Neill settled in to the second spot and Kandie Smidt was running third.

Lance Mielke of Norfolk

was charging his way to the front and was working to pass Smidt when he lost a tire bring-ing out the second and final caution.

The caution gave Smidt a second chance and with two laps remaining she passed Jackson for second.

Meyer took the win and Smidt was second.

Jackson held off Brooke Fluckiger of Columbus on the final lap to take third and Fluckiger was fourth. Round-ing out the top 5 was Colby Kaspar of Norfolk.

Wes Hochstein (21B) and Kyle Prauner (5K) race together in their heat race. Hochstein later held off Prauner in the feature to take his first career SportMod feature win.

Kyle Prauner (5K) ends up in the wall after a tire went down during his heat race. He later finished sec-ond in the feature.

Matt Haase (81) chal-lenged for the win in the

feature, but came up short when he finished third. Derik Fox (0) fin-

ished fourth in the feature for his fifth top 5 of the

season.

Above, Eric Sloan cruises into turn three in his heat race.

Right, Joey Haase (2) took his best fin-ish of the season at the track placing

fifth.

Hochstein captures first modified victory

Wes Hochstein picked up his first career SportMod feature win last week when he led 14 of the 15 laps.

Hochstein started on the out-side pole and pulled out to a four-car length lead over Matt Haase of Norfolk.

After completing eight of the 15-laps of the feature, the only caution of the race came out bunching the field.

Hochstein was leading, Haase was second and Derik Fox of Stanton was third.

After the restart, Haase was the first car to challenge for the lead and then Norfolk’s Kyle

Prauner made it three wide at the start-finish line with three laps remaining.
