What is Money Control?• Money Control is India’s
foremost financial information resource. It is a Web 2.0 website that allows anyone to track their financial investments interactively online.
• This includes stocks, mutual funds, commodities, real estate, loans, insurance, mutual funds and a watch list of possible investments.
• The site was conceived as a personal finance vortal in
February, 1999.
• It took nine months for this site to come onto the Web and
was issued on November 5, 1999.
• On June 1, 2000, the site was acquired by e-Eighteen.Com
Ltd.
• It began in 2000, with 10 pages and in 5 years reached 250
pages. Today, it has 2,020 other websites that link onto it.

The creation of www.moneycontrol.com
Why Money Control?
• We chose moneycontrol.com primarily because it is so interesting and some of its features are amazing. It is also very technologically advanced including live video feeds of top stories of a selected stock.
• It also shows the latest announcements by the company and other large investors on the stock.
• Additionally, it has a message board which is a social networking platform for anyone to add their views on particular stocks and issues.
• A problem we did encounter though is the excessive amounts of advertisements (ranging from 5 to 10 per page), which can be annoying.
• Also, if one is not familiar with the stock market, the site can be very confusing and intimidating.
This image gives all of the information and video links needed for personal research.
HOW DOES IT MAKE MONEY?
The site makes money from
advertisements and banner ads on
its website.
Their advertisers include:
•LIC (Life Insurance Company
of India)
•BSA (Business Software
Alliance)
•HP (Hewlett Packard)
•Bharatmatrimony.com
•Kodak
•Suleka.com
IS THIS The NEXT “BIG THING”
• Globally speaking, no, we do not feel as thought this
website has any scope of growing internationally into being
the next big thing because it is mainly concerned with the
news and issues of only the Indian Stock Market.
• However, moneycontrol.com is the premier end-to-end
business and finance portal for any and all Indian net
traders.
• In addition, this site has been growing at a breath-taking
rate ever since its birth.
• Thus, we believe that this site can grow in India but
globally it has limitation regarding its maximum expansion.
Who Makes It?• Moneycontrol.com is based in Maharashtra,
India.• Created in 1999, Money Control is owned by “e-
Eighteen.com Limited”• It has had 1 registrar & 14 changes in IP History.• Also, the website is frequently edited by users on a
constant basis.
Is It Web 2.0?
• Money Control is Web 2.0 because it:• Uses java scripts• Has frame sets to improve the functionality
and looks of the page• Has a rich user experience• Contributed and edited by users on a regular
basis• Uses syndicated content so all information can
be condensed onto one page• Has a message board for social networking• Uses RSS feeds pertaining to different topics

Ease of Use
• Money Control is both easy and difficult to use.• It is simple in that all it requires is to register with a
username, e-mail, and password. Then, you can begin to set up a personal portfolio and use all of its various feature.
• But beyond that point, it is very confusing and intricate. Even to a person who is economically-savvy, it is quite confusing and complex. The site map itself is very long and convoluted. http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/sitemap/sitemap.php
• But if someone grows accustomed to this, it would be very easy to utilize all of the many advantages of Money Control.
Money Control makes setting up a free membership and portfolio simple
How Does it Compare?• Money Control compares very similarly to most other stock
market websites. In comparison to American stock websites, it has a very similar setup and applications. It does seem more advanced than others, but is overall very similar in basic usage.
• There is not much left to be desired by the website itself.• It has almost all imaginable features possible, and more.• One could wish for it to be more simple and condensed, but
as a stock market website it needs to have a lot of information available.
• Also, the user could wish for less advertisements across the site, but that is a common annoyance on all websites.
