Web Designer/Programmer The British Museum Company has a vacancy for a Web Designer/Programmer to help with the development of its online shop. The website www.britishmuseum.org/shop sells tickets, books, replicas and gift merchandise to visitors of the Museum Website and customers around the world. This is a key strategic role within the growing Web eCommerce team working across all phases of the project lifecycle, from inputting innovative ideas to supporting the content manager for new product ranges, promotions and site enhancements. This newlycreated role involves working on a wide variety of web design projects utilising new and exciting web technologies, designing and developing site enhancements, features and functionality from concept through to delivery. The Web Designer/Programmer will be responsible for developing solutions to the highest standards, working to tight deadlines and must have a good eye for detail and be passionate about the quality of your work. We are looking for a wellorganised, creative person who can work within this small team and demonstrate the ability to deliver high quality. Applicants should have: At least 2 years commercial experience in this role. Strong creative skills with a clear understanding of customercentred design and user experience. Experience working on several projects simultaneously. Understanding of project lifecycles and experience of estimating work for projects. Knowledge of SEO. Excellent written and spoken English. The right to take up work in the UK. Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, Fireworks & Flash. Strong experience and knowledge of: LAMP (Linux, Apache, PHP & MySQL) JavaScript/DHTML/jQuery AJAX, XML, JSON Any experience working with the Venda eCommerce platform is a bonus.
