Yeo Valley – a family run dairy that supplies our organic yogurts – has been doing great taste the right way in Somerset for over 50 years. But it’s not just taste that makes Yeo Valley yogurts so special: it’s also because they are 100% ‘Yeoganic’. Yeoganic is Yeo Valley’s way of going the extra country mile to look after the land, their animals and people around them. Yeoganic is about nurturing the land and nature. That means taking great care of the top six inches of soil - the foundations of all life on earth – on their 1,200 acre organic farm - and ensuring their herd of 420 pedigree British Friesian cows are happy, of course! It also means supporting other British farmers. Every week more and more family dairy farms are forced to close down. Small family dairy farms deserve to be around forever so Yeo Valley supports hundreds of them by buying their milk through a cooperative of organic dairy farmers. They’ve even got the Soil Association’s ethical trade mark to show that everyone who they work with, particularly farmers, gets a fair price. Special Diets and Allergies If your child has a specific dietary need for a medical reason we are delighted to provide for them. If you would like your child to have a school lunch, a medical dietary request form is available from your school’s reception. Nutrition All of our menus comply with the government’s food and nutrient-based standards. We analyse every one of our menus to ensure an average lunch should provide a child with 30% of their total daily energy and approximately one third of their daily nutrient requirement. For more information on school food standards please visit: www.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk Our lunches include a choice of... 3 main courses and accompanying carbohydrates 2 vegetable options Up to 6 salad choices Wholemeal or white fresh, crusty baked bread A selection of hot and cold desserts Soon all of our diners will be able to find out how to get growing in the garden with Blue Peter Gardener, Chris Collins! Since working with the Soil Association, ISS Education has become increasingly keen to educate pupils on the food they are eating. We want to help them to understand where their food comes from and to encourage them to get involved in the field to fork process!
