Classroom PlanningIt is important for you and your child to understand that I plan each unit of learning using a backwards design. What a backwards design means is that I design the unit, always thinking about what I want the end outcomes for your child to be. This allows me to work from the perspective of what I want your child to understand and know. It also allows for your child to have a clear understanding of what they are going to learn, how they are going to learn it and what the expectations are. Formative assessment at the beginning of a unit allows me to better understand your child’s prior knowledge and learning on a particular topic. This then gives me a starting point for your child’s learning in this unit. Further assessment throughout the unit allows me to follow your child’s learning and understanding of the topic.
