Scoil Phádraig Naofa - Fourth Class Easter Activities Hi everyone, Hope you are keeping well since we sent our last weekly plan. It was lovely to stay in touch with some of you during the week through Class Dojo. While we won’t be assigning any bookwork or responding to Class Dojo during the Easter Holidays (6th – 17th Apr.) your child might like to try out some fun activities from the websites/ideas listed below, to keep them occupied and active. However, these are totally optional and if you wish to completely switch off during the Easter holidays, that is fine too. The most important thing is that everyone stays safe and well. Wishing you all a very happy Easter and we will be in contact with you again on Monday, April 20 th . Some Activity Ideas for over the Easter Holidays Create your own egg hunt You can use different sized eggs for your egg hunt – large chocolate eggs, decorated eggs, chocolate mini eggs. You can organise your own egg hunt also: You could draw a map for members of your household to follow. You could give rhyming clues for them to figure out like: “You’ll find an egg near two hands and a face; you’ll find another egg near a cool place.” The first clue could mean near a picture, a statue or a clock. The second clue could mean near a cold tap, a fridge or a freezer. Use your imagination to come up with clues and take turns to hide the eggs. You could have an Easter egg obstacle course-sack race, egg and soon, tennis racket and dribble ball etc. More Easter egg hunt ideas on this website: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/easter-ideas/g31346137/ indoor-easter-egg-hunt-ideas/ Baking: Make chocolate nests (Make sure you have an adult helping you) 1

Hi everyone,

Hope you are keeping well since we sent our last weekly plan. Wishing you all a very happy Easter and we will be in contact with you again on Monday, April 20 th.

Some Activity Ideas for over the Easter Holidays

Create your own egg hunt

You can use different sized eggs for your egg hunt – large chocolate eggs, decorated eggs, chocolate mini eggs.

Other Easter treats you could try out (Make sure to have an adult helping you)

Recipe Instructions

Devilled Chick Eggs are a super simple savoury treat. Ask an adult tohelp you make a batch of devilled eggs but instead of cutting them vertically, just chop the top off and you can help to dress them up.

1 Ask an adult to help you boil some eggs for 8 minutes. Place the boiled eggs in iced water to cool them down quickly.

2 Ask an adult to help you slice the egg in two places, as shown in the picture.

3 Remove all the yolk of the egg and crumble in a bowl using a fork.

Pancake Bunnies: The only ingredients you’ll need are everyday breakfast items. You can whatever fruit you like such as blueberries, strawberries, banana slices, melon or cantaloupe as well a little honey, maple syrup or even a couple of small marshmallows for teeth!

4Add some mayonnaise and mustard (as shown in the picture) and mix in the bowl until you make a yellow paste.

5Spoon the paste into a piping bag and use this to fill up the base of the hollowed out eggs.

6 Ask an adult to help you cut up some carrot triangles and some olive slices to make a nose and eyes for your chicks.

7Put the top section of the egg back in its place. Decorate the chicks with their eyes and nose.

8 Share with your family and enjoy. Happy Easter!

Materials

You will need

Sheet of paper or card. A 15 cm square makes a nice mini-basket. You’ll also want a thin strip to make a handle.

Pencil Ruler Adhesive tape or glue Two paper fasteners to secure the handle instead of tape if you wish

Paper Easter Basket Instructions

Step 1:

Place your paper nice-side-down.

With a pencil and ruler, draw an evenly spaced 3 by 3 grid onto the square, as if you were going to play noughts-and-crosses. I usually use a 15cm square of paper, so my lines are spaced 5cm apart.

Fold and unfold along each of the lines to make a crease.

Step 2:

See how in the photo from Step 1, the lines going in from the top and bottom are drawn a bit darker? Well, you want to cut along those lines, so that your piece of paper looks like the picture on the top of page 7.

9

When you cut your paper, it should look like this:

Step 3:

Fold up the left and right sides of the paper to turn it into a basket like this. Ask an adult to help you if you wish. Tape or glue the folds into place. I like to use adhesive tape because it’s quicker. If you put it on the inside of the basket then you can’t see it anyway.

10

Here’s a close-up showing how the folds go:

Step 4

Use a thin strip of paper to make a handle, and tape or glue it on. You can also ask an adult to help you make holes in it to push through some paper fasteners.

The strip should be about 15cm in length.
