Celtic English Academy Finance Manager Celtic English Academy, Cardiff City Centre Celtic English Academy, established in 2004, is a friendly and welcoming British Council accredited English language Academy in the centre of Cardiff. We take pride in our small class sizes, great teachers and wonderful support staff. We offer a range of beginner to advanced level English language courses for international students including, but not limited to; General English, IELTS Exam Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation, Teacher Development Courses, One-to-One lessons for adult students, and bespoke packaged programmes for both adult and young learners. Each year approximately 1000 adult students with an average of 11 weeks’ stay study with us from up to 50 different nationalities. CELTIC ENGLISH ACADEMYAbout your Application

Thank you for your interest in this post. Candidates should complete and return the Application Form and letter of application, addressed to the CEO, to reach the Academy by 26th March 2021.

All sections must be completed, including the names and addresses of two referees, one of whom should be your current employer (if applicable) and a full education and employment history.

All applicants will be asked the reason for leaving previous roles if this is not explained on the application form. Applicants will be asked to confirm that they have not been disqualified from working with children. Any gaps in employment will be explored at interview.

Please submit your application by email, but if this is not possible, please submit on single-sided sheets of A4 paper held together with a single paper clip (no staples) since multiple copies will be made. Please note that we will not accept curriculum vitae instead of an application form.

All applicants who are offered employment and do not hold an enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be subject to one before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings, as well as convictions. The cost of application will be met by the Academy.

All posts in the Academy are offered subject to the receipt by the Academy of satisfactory references, verification of qualifications cited by candidate and proof of a right to work. As these checks can take some time to complete, candidates are advised to disclose any possible impediment to appointment at the time of interview, as failure to do so could result in an appointment not being confirmed, or being rescinded. All appointments in the Academy are offered subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period.

Finance ManagerREQUIRED: as soon as possibleThe Finance Manager is directly responsible to the CEO and is required to take care of all areas relating to the finance of the Academy.

Salary: £30,000 – 35,000 pro-rata for 25 – 30 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FINANCE MANAGERThe person appointed to the role of Finance Manager will be line-managed by the CEO. The role is to deal with all issues relating to financial matters of and at the Academy.

Key responsibilities

Deliver annual finance presentation to all staff at the AGM as well as presenting accounts to the CEO on a monthly basis

Responsible for advising the CEO about cash flow and acting upon decisions regarding its management

Analysing change and advising accordingly formulating strategic and long-term business plans

Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk Conduct budget preparation and analysis, expense analysis and manage credit

control policy and implementation Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities Supervise payroll for approximately 30 staff members in accordance with

company policy and within strict deadlines Managing financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems Provide required information for the fee setting and salary review process Responsible for debtors and creditors list including ETO discount statements,

student refunds. Work in close collaboration with the marketing department to deliver statistical

requests Responsible for effectively preparing monthly and annual management accounts

for the company Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g., auditors,

solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines managing budgets Arranging new sources of finance for a company's debt facilities Line management of the Finance team, including recruiting and managing the

team in accordance with CEA’s policies and procedures to achieve organisational objectives

Ensuring regular supervision and review meetings for team members, and ensuring that team members have training plans which are carried out and regularly monitored, and assisting with training new team members

Reporting and accounting as per regulatory and legal requirements including taxation, dividends, annual report and accounts
