The Kinsner PTA will be supplying cheese pizza to all of the Kinsner students on the last day of school (June 6), as our cafeteria is closed that day! We are working with the Room Parents on this and each child will be receiving 2 pieces of pizza. Your child’s Room Parents will still be requesting sides for the last day, so be watching for correspondence from them!

THANK YOU FROM THE PTA

What a GREAT year 2013-2014 has been at Kinsner! It’s hard to believe we only have a few weeks of school left before our long anticipated summer break! The Kinsner PTA would like to thank all families who participated in our fundraisers, and all who volunteered their time at the many exciting events we offered our students this year! We are committed to enhancing the students’ education through fun and educational programs. Studies have indicated that children’s whose parents or caregivers share in their education have high success rates in school.

We thank you for your partnership in your child’s education and hope you will continue to be part of the Kinsner PTA next year.

Have a safe and happy summer with your family!

From the desk of Mr. Reed . . . As we approach the end of the school year, we can look back at another successful year. Students and staff have worked diligently to complete the curriculum, finish testing and begin preparations for the end of year activities. Without parent support none of this would be possible.

If your student has not already told you, I am happy to announce the addition of 6 Chromebook carts to our instructional tools. The students are excited to learn to use this technology and actually many of them are very impressive to watch already. In addition, with the help of Kinsner PTA and a grant from Strongsville PTA Council, we have updated our Accelerated Reader program with many new titles. As always, a big thank you to PTA for all of their work and support on behalf of the students and staff at Kinsner!

Please join me in congratulating the Kinsner Trivia Team on their first place finish at this year’s Spring Fever Trivia event! Team members were Kevin O’Neill, Dan Swanson, Will Hanek and Tom Karris. If you see them, please be sure to congratulate this group of trivia talented gentlemen! Second place went to Chapman Elementary School’s team of Kathleen Crookston, Scott Raiff, Keith Amari, Peggy Kmetz, Sue Herman and Bill Raiff; and First Lutheran Church’s team of Wayne Mosley, Don Alexander, Bob Jacob and Bruce Holderead.

More great news! This year the American Heart Association JUMPROPE for Heart program raised $ 5,501.05 for the American Heart Association. Thank you to everyone for your participation and generous donations to this worthy cause.

Next year will bring changes, as it always does. We are excited about the addition of a full-day Kindergarten program at Kinsner next school year. Next year we look forward to on-line testing utilizing the Chromebooks. We also look forward to an exciting Browns season!

There is still much to accomplish before the last day of school on June 6 and we have many exciting activities to look forward to. Grade 6 leaves for camp after school on Thursday the 8th and returns on Sunday the 11th. The Art Fair and Ice Cream Social will be held on the 15th. Grade 6 students are excited to be visiting their respective middle schools for next year on the 21st. May 30 is going to be a very busy day, we start out with the Spring Orchestra, Band and Chorus concert in the morning, DARE Graduation in the afternoon and the Kinsner Talent Show at SHS in the evening. Then we head into June with the Grade 6 Recognition Program @ 11:30 and the end of year class parties all taking place on Friday, June 6. Head room parents have the party schedule for the last day of school. Finally, we have early dismissal on the last day with AM Kindergarten from 9:05 - 11:05 am, PM Kindergarten from 12:05 - 2:05 pm and grades 1-6 attending from 9:05 – 2:05 pm.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 440.572.7120. If I can’t answer your question, I’ll put you in touch with someone who can. Have a safe, happy summer break! The first day of school next year is August 19!

Principal

Thank you to everyone who has designated KInsner Elementary as school of choice with their Giant Eagle Advantage Card. The points earned this year allowed us to order NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT for next year! With our points we were able to get new adjustable jump ropes, new basketballs, playground balls, and swing-n-hop sets. We were also able to get stopwatches and an exercise step for our gym classes.

FIRST EVER KINSNER CARNIVAL UPDATE!!!!

It was a GREAT success! We had approximately 200 children attend, and over 30 volunteers that helped to bring this event to them! Thanks to all who participated

to make this a fun, family-friendly, Kinsner event.

Thank you to all the families who brought in Box Tops. We collected a grand total of $1335.00 this year. Those Box Tops really add up! The money they generated was put towards new classroom supplies. Let’s surpass that total next year. Remember to keep saving those tops ALL SUMMER LONG! We will have another collection contest in the fall.

FINAL 4th and 5th Grade Just Say No meetings are on May 15th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The 3rd graders are invited to see what it is all about and will be joining the 4th graders this day. The 5th graders have Officer Don coming! Looking forward to ending the year on a GREAT note!

In an effort to save on copying costs, we will be increasing communication and distribution of forms and information through the Kinsner website and emails. We may at times send forms through an email and ask for them to be printed off at home, and then returned to school. Any forms that are sent home will also be available under the PTA tab on our website (http://www.strongnet.org/domain/646 ). We appreciate your

A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT!

The year is coming to a closing, so I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your support as the PTA President this year. My family and I moved to Ohio 3 years ago and have felt welcome at Kinsner Elementary School, as if we have been here forever.

I wanted to highlight the wonderful things that we have done this year at Kinsner. All of these things couldn’t have been possible without the support of the PTA Board, members, parents, facility and volunteers. This year the PTA did the following:

Kindergarten First Day Photos Book Fair Movie Night Carnival Just Say No 4th & 5th Grade Expanded/Updated the AR Program Birthday Book Club Science Assembly Johnny Appleseed for 2nd Grade 3rd Grade Laura Ingalls Wilder Author Visit Extra disposable spoons for the cafeteria (so no child

Week” Breakfast with a Buddy Staff Appreciation Week Events

Conference Day luncheon for the staff Newsletters Room Parent Events/ Classroom Parties Classroom Grants Playground Equipment Gym Equipment Art Supplies School Supply Kits End of the Year Lunch (Pizza and Popsicles

provided) 6th Grade Recognition Art and Ice Cream Social Talent Show Volunteerism Committee Work by the students Decorating of the Front School Hallways Holiday Shop

I want to give a special thanks to the PTA’s Executive Board (Nikki Whitehead, Stephanie Packzo, Mr. Reed, Lisa Harper, Christy Keating, Christy Cuppage, Stacey Armendariez, and Marla Myers) for being by my side and making

everything a success this year. The achievements this year would not have been possible without their dedication, support and leadership.

It saddens me to say my family and I will be in another school zone next year. While we will remain in Strongsville, but my youngest will be attending another school due to our move. I may not have a child attending Kinsner any longer, but this school will always have a place in my heart. We have many friends and memories that will remain at Kinsner. Our journey may be ending, but our paths will cross again.

Truly Yours,~Tocoi Arthur, Kinsner PTA President 2013-2014
