is Him.
Isaiah 54:2-4 is not a dare or even a suggestion, but a command with a promise, from God Himself:
“2 Enlarge the site of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will possess the nations and will settle the desolate towns. 4 Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; do not be discouraged, for you will not suffer disgrace…”
Do not be afraid or discouraged, but rather be obedient to the Holy Spirit’s leading to step out in a particular part of your life this month. Join a Bible study- or start one. Give a financial gift or drop off a sack full of groceries anonymously to anyone...whatever the amount God has placed on your heart. Pray openly with someone who does not know who Jesus is. Ask God what ministry at church He would have you start or support. Give more of your time to a loved one (or to a stranger) than you think you have. Set a recurring daily appointment on your phone’s calendar or on a printed calendar to spend time alone talking with God about anything and everything.
Trust God with all of your mind, with all of your heart, all of your strength and all of your soul. Love God so much that every time your level of comfort is tested in life, your first response is: “Yes, Lord! Yes!” As the promise in Isaiah 52:4 assures us, you will not be disgraced if you will only trust Him.

Apparently it is quite popular these days to wear “jeggings,” jeans that are stretchy like “leggings.” For all of my brothers in Christ out there, “stretchy pants” is the best description of this very comfortable clothing item. Who doesn’t like being comfortable? The challenge, however, is that God often calls us to situations and positions that are quite the opposite. Here is a mandate from the prophet Isaiah concerning our “comfort zone.” If you look carefully, you will note that it has a distinct echo of what Jesus taught in the Gospels and what Paul wrote from the Holy Spirit in his letters.
"God's Vision for Us for 2014"Hebrews 12:1-2a "1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us 2fixing our eyes on Jesus."
The Caldwell Christian Sisters held their meeting on Sunday, April 13, 2014 with President Anna Wotipka presiding. 10 members and Sister Vanessa were in attendance.
Mary Owens presented devotional. All reports were given and approved. We will host Birthday Party at The Manor in June and Copperas Hollow Nursing Facility in
October. Anna Wotipka, Rose Autrey and Sister Vanessa gave a report on Unity Sisters Convention

We Rejoice!
On Easter morning, April 20, 2014, Miss Lillian Matcek, daughter of Tyron and Rachel Matcek, made her Profession of Faith before our congregation at the tender age of 5! Miss Lillian shared about her saving faith in Jesus Christ, including that Jesus is her "rock," never breaking, always present for her every need. Our church family rejoiced with Lillian as she stood for Christ and we vowed before the Lord God to help her in every way to continue to grow in her faith and serve the Lord Jesus.
Caldwell Brethren Church will be hosting a barbecue plate fundraiser for the Missions that are funded by our denomination. The Unity of the Brethren funds home missions (mostly within the State of Texas) and numerous foreign missions in Northern Africa, Czech Republic, Eastern Nicaragua, Southern Mexico, and China.
These missionaries have been running on a budget that is nearly half of what was projected, and it has been a very tough passed year for them. In the past years, most of that budget has been met by church member contributions but with member pockets stretched as thin as they can we are still short on funds for those missionaries serving at home and abroad. That is the purpose of the organization of this fundraiser.
These folks are doing a tremendous job bringing the word of God to areas and individuals who would not otherwise know about Him.
Where: Caldwell Brethren Church Fellowship HallWhen: Monday, May 5thTime: 5-7 PM $8 per plate (TO-GO PLATES as well as a SIT-DOWN MEAL option)
Tickets may be purchased from church Members or by contacting Matt Hyvl at (979) 255-0025.
Let’s all work together and make this a success!!
Classy Remark
When the teacher asked his students what they wanted to be when they grew up, one rambunctious girl surprised the class by saying she wanted to be a minister. “Why a minister?” the surprised teacher asked. “Well, I figure I have to go to church Sundays anyway,” the girl replied. “And I’d much rather be the one standing up and yelling than one of the people who have to sit and listen.”
We had 27 in attendance for our Sunday Easter Breakfast. Thanks to each of you for taking the time to come and fellowship with us to keep this church tradition alive.

THOUGHT: Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. —Ralph Waldo Emerson
It’s entirely possible that you don’t travel as much as you used to. Perhaps you stayed close to home. My parents didn’t travel much. As far as I know, Mother only visited Germany, which is where her parents were born. My parents, however, lived in Canada for a number of years, and that is where I was born. But other than the United States, Canada and Germany, that’s about it. It was a different time, a couple of generations ago. The world was much bigger. It was difficult to get to places and more expensive than it is now. Today, the world is much smaller, and the travel industry is prospering.
I say all of that to introduce a little essay I read by an unknown writer, who talks about places he has not yet visited (see if you can catch the humor). He writes:
I have been in many places, but I’ve never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several
trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I’m not too much on physical activity anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often. I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I’m getting older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old
heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! I have never been in Continent, although I suspect I may go there someday when I’m a little older. Who
knows?
Traveling. The Bible says we’re all travelers. What’s more, we’re traveling in a foreign land! Fortunately, we’reheaded for our eternal home. —Timothy Merrill
The Caldwell Brethren Sunday School sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday afternoon, April 19. Attending were 12 children and 13 adults. Before the hunt, Pastor Vanessa presented the story of Jesus being condemned, hanged on the cross, his death and resurrection through ”The Easter Story Cookies”. Vickie Brandon together with the children attending participated in the mixing of the cookies as Pastor Vanessa read the scripture from the Bible.
Caldwell Brethren Christian Sisters Salad Supper – April 7, 2014Two members from the CBC Coffeehouse Study Group, Kenzee Hyvl and Lynette Urbanovsky, were the speakers for our 2014 Annual Salad Supper. Kenzee gave testimony of her Christian Walk and what Jesus means to her. Lynette sang a special song for us and led us in singing some of our favorite hymns. She spoke on Revelation 22:17 (NIV) – “The Spirit and Bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” We had 49 lady friends attend and Karli Maresh was the youngest in attendance. Good fellowship, good food and an uplifting message! What wonderful ways to worship our Lord and Savior.
