Re: Teaching of Relationships and Sex Education

Dear Parent,

At Haywood Village Academy we follow the Jigsaw programme of study to teach our children about Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). As part of Jigsaw we will be covering ‘Relationships and Sexual Health Education’ during this term’s topic ‘Changing me’. This aspect of PSHE is vital in your child’s health and wellbeing as well as their emotional development. Please find below a table showing what your child will be learning. You might want to take the opportunity to look at the distance learning and talk to your child before they access the blog.

All of the materials that will be used are available for you to browse through should you so wish. If this is something you would like to do, please contact your class teacher.

Under the 1993 Education Act and as per our policy, parents/carers can withdraw their child from all or part of the school’s Sex and Relationship Programme. That is with the exception of the parts that are statutory within the Science National Curriculum. If you wish to withdraw your child from this teaching, then please ask them not access this part of the blog.
