etNew SpellingsWeek 3 - Adding the suffix -ous (Words ending in ‘y’ become ‘i’ and words ending in ‘our’ become ‘or’)
1. Work through the PPT from the bookbag and have a go at the activities on it. There are lots to look at and all focus on developing your spelling.
2. Can you make sentences with these words? Have a go at recording 4 or 5 sentences – remember to use your punctuation and even try to add a comma.
3. Record these sentence as they may come in useful over the next few weeks.
4. There are some funky frames to write on if you wish – or you could write them in different colour pens!
5. Can you think of any other words that follow the same rule, write these down too.

SCIENCE LESSON – INVESTIGATION OF MATERIALS AS THEY CHANGE STATE – to be completed over 2 sessions as we will be making rice crispie/cornflake cakes (yummy) if you don’t want to bake there are two videos to watch!
Use the PPT and the resource sheet to carry out the experiment – you should be able to follow this quite easily.
These are the questions that you could ask during the lesson.
What do I notice about the chocolate as it changes state? How quickly does it melt? Could you pour it to start with? Can you pour it once its melted?
What happens to the solids when heated? How does their state change? How heat can cause solids to change to liquids and vice versa? What then happens if you put the melted chocolate in a mould and pop it in the freezer? Then, investigate the melting and freezing temperature of materials. (water, chocolate, butter) How could I do this?
Take photos of you completing the investigation and load them onto the padlet for us to see.
