BARANGAY CABETICAN HISTORY
Barangay Cabetican, originally known as “KEBETISAN” derived from the word “BETIS” which is the name of adjacent barangay. As the time passed by, in the first decade of 1900’s, barangay Kebetisan was absorbed by the town Bacolor and its name change into “CABETICAN” as we know it today. Its absorption into Bacolor was due to geographical reasons.
Barangay Cabetican is an urban type of barangay and it has a plain land form. Presently, it comprises five (5) sitios/puroks. It has a total land area of327.06 in terms of hectares. The major source of livelihood is Agriculture. On the other hand, it has a total population of 3,481 as of 2017 in which 2,174 are females and 1,307 are males. Out of the total population, 285 of them are considered senior citizens, 517 are children less than 12 years old, 115 are PWD’s, and 68 sick persons. Moreover, the barangay has a total number of 641 households; 556 of them are permanent, 54 semi-permanent and 31 are temporary.
Barangay Cabetican has its road with total length of 4933 meters which consists of the National, Provincial, and all the Barangay roads; they all have a good condition. National road has a length of 1469 meters and it is made up of Asphalt. Provincial road has a length of 198 meters and it is made up of Eathfill. And, all the Barangay roads have a total length of 3266 meters which is all made up of concrete materials.
Barangay Cabetican has a bridge with total length of 155 linear meters, it is a National Bridge which made up of concrete material and has a good condition. Also, the barangay has a waterways namely; the Cabetican Creek and the Control River. The Cabetican Creek is a creek which adjacent waterway is the Guagua Creek located at Minalin in which its condition is stagnant while the Control is a river which adjacent waterway is the Pasig – Potrero River located also at Minalin and has a stagnant condition.
Our barangay has infrastructures which are the Barangay Hall, Barangay Covered Court, Barangay Day Care Center, and Health Center; all of these have their good condition except for the Barangay Covered Court which has a fair condition. The establishments that are present in Barangay Cabetican are: 49 Sari – sari stores, 1 Auto Supply and Motorparts, 2 Beauty Parlors and Barber Shops, 1 Resaurant, 3 Furniture Shops, 2 Computer Shops, 3 Water Refilling Stations, 1 Funeral Parlor, and 1 Resort. In industrial establishments: 1 Junk Shop. Furthermore, our Health Center has a total number of 1,817 patients served in the previous year. Most of the causes are these top 5 diseases namely:A.R.I which has a 328 number of cases in the last year 2016 but as of now May 2017 it goes down to 60 cases, HPN which has 56 cases in the last year 2016 and 35 cases as of May 2017, Infected wound which has 49 cases as of 2016 and now as of May 2017 it only has 12 cases, D.M which has 30 cases as of 2017 and 68 as of May 2017, and lastly the Dizziness which has a 21 cases as of 2016 and it goes down to 3 cases as of May 2017.
The barangay has one (1) daycare school which is located near the barangay hall. It has a total number of 30 enrollees for the school year 2017 –
2018. Also, the barangay has one (1) primary school with total enrollees of 400 students for the school year 2017 – 2018. In addition to that, 338 students living in the barangay are scholars of different government scholarship programs; however, there are children from the barangay who do not attend school because of financial instability.
The barangay has 1 Foton which has a capacity of 16 persons and it is under good condition. Since the barangay does not have an evacuation center, they used the ASOLL (Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes), which has a capacity of 1,200 people, as an evacuation center during heavy rains and high flood. The most common means of transportations are jeepneys, tricycles, and wheelers. Jeepneys are private vehicles which has a capacity of 18 persons, the tricycles are used for public transportations which has a quantity of 38 and a capacity of 4 persons, the wheelers are also used for public vehicles with a quantity of 8 and a capacity of 2 persons, and a van, a private transportation which has a quantity of 3 and a capacity of 16 persons.
Barangay Cabetican is also considered as an agricultural barangay because farming is considered as the main source of income of the people. Twenty-eight (28) of the households are farmers in which 8 of them are using deep well pump as their source of irrigation while the rest are only waiting for the wet seasons.
