Based on students’ written self-reflections, they understood the following about their own learning and progress:
7 students said they learned how to write a summary. 5 students said they learned how to use connecting words in paragraph writing. 4 students said they learned how to revise, edit their own writing, and write
multiple drafts. 3 students said they learned how to review others’ writing, suggest revisions, and
offer editing suggestions. 3 students said they learned how to annotate for main ideas. 2 students said they learned to read their writing out loud when editing. 2 students said they learned how to be a better reader. 1 student said they learned how to edit for capitals and periods.
Based on students’ written self-reflections, they were still confused about, or felt they needed more help with the following:
6 students said they were not sure how to read and comment on other people’s writing/they were not sure how to help others become better writers/not sure how to use other people’s suggestions to make their writing better.
2 students said they felt like they understood everything we learned. 2 students said they still needed help writing paragraphs. 1 student said he needs someone to push him to read more.
Based on students’ written self-reflections, the following were the most important things they thought they learned from this learning segment:
6 students said the most important thing they learned was the importance of helping writing partners improve their writing.
