C A U T I O N 1) Be sure not to exceed the working air pressure of 0.3 MPa (45psi, 3.0 bar, 3.0 kgf/cm2 ). Use at an excessive air pressure causes damage on the tooth surface, patient discomfort, scaling tip breakage, and may shorten the life of the instrument. 2) After adjusting the power, grasp the strength using an extracted tooth prior to scaling.

7.4 Adjustment 1) Adjustment of air pressure a) Mount air pressure gauge between the scaler and coupling (MULTIflex® coupling) or turbine hose (MIDWEST 4 Hole and BORDEN 2 or 3 Hole). b) Stop water supply. Adjust air supply until the gauge shows 0.3MPa (45psi, 3.0 bar, 3.0 kgf/cm2 ). Do not exceed 0.3 MPa. c) Detach the pressure gauge and connect scaler to your coupling (MULTIflex® coupling) or turbine hose (MIDWEST 4 Hole and BORDEN 2 or 3 Hole) firmly.

Page 20: €¦ · Web viewFor drainage and regular maintenance of your air compressor, please refer to air compressor's instructions manual. 8.4 Checking the air compressor A T T E N T I O

A T T E N T I O N Depending on the scaling tip used, wear or use conditions, the scaler may generate running noise. Refrain from using the scaler long time, if the noise is loud.

C A U T I O N When scaling, supply plenty of water to cool the scaling tip and the tooth being scaled. If the water supply is not sufficient, it causes damages on tooth surface and premature wear of scaling tip.

2) Adjustment of water volume Depress the foot control of the unit and use water volume control of the unit or of the coupling to have adequate water volume. In doing this, follow the instructions for use of your unit or of your coupling. Each scaling tip has its water outlet at a different position. Before use, adjust the volume adequately so that water reaches around the edge of the scaling tip.

To avoid patient stimulus, injuries and scaling tip damage, scaling must be done with light touch. Select the most suitable tip according to the treatment purpose.
