Week 2:

Using Ipads and apps in the classroom, is an innovative way of learning for children, it helps them to be skilled, literate and fluent in technology as well across curricular subjects. Ipads can be used for:

- Reading- Organising and annotating- Educational games- Research- Photographs- then use of apps to arrange and present- Partaking in arranged quizzes- kazoot- Aids differentiation in learning- Collaborative learning- Testing evaluating and assessing

There are hundreds of apps available to aid learning in every subject across the curriculum.

Volume Purchase Program is a MUST have in primary schools. This system allows users to bulk purchase app for deployment. The schools will need to use a credit/debit card to buy apps.Each copy will come with its own license and code. Schools then only need to use one code, but have proof of purchase of multiple licenses.

During the session we worked as a group to complete a book using book creator. This app allows you to make a book with templates provided. For example horror, bollywood, retro fairytale etc.. We went outside and used a focus of ‘colours of the rainbow’ capturing images and plants, the sky, anything that had a bright colour that would look good in the video. We then went back to the classroom to compile the images together and create a book. We made a page each choosing to surround the book page with words that relate to that colour. For example I chose pink. I created a pink background and placed the image in the centre. Then listed words such as:

-Pig

- Candyfloss

- Ice Cream

As a group everybody shared their work. We also discussed the app imovies. This allows you to make a video using one of the templates provided such as: bollywood, horror, romance family etc. We were shown how to make a trailer and familiarised ourselves with the app. Both of these apps would be extremely beneficial for a primary school classroom encouraging teamwork, and creativity. It could link cross curricular with any subject.
