Rejoice and be glad, Righteous Elder Simeon; you accepted in your arms the Redeemer of our souls, Who grants us Resurrection.

Having foolishly abandoned Your paternal glory, I have squandered on vices the wealth that You have given me. Therefore, with the voice of the prodigal, I cry out to You: I have sinned before You, O Compassionate Father, accept me in repentance and make me as one of Your hired servants.

The SUNDAY of the Prodigal Son, calls upon us to “come to ourselves”, to see ourselves as being in a “far country, away from God’s House and to make the journey back to God. Our Heavenly Father will receive us with joy and gladness. We must only “arise and go” confessing our sinful and self-afflicted separation from the home where we truly belong.
