Page 3: carolannnemecek.weebly.com  · Web viewI will ask students to sign for each word (tree, lion, rock, and door). I will give them the example where the tree is, then where lion stands,

(ACTFL Standards: Communication and Culture)

11:14 – 11:32: QUIZ- I will sign each word in a sentence and students have to write the words on the paper. Quiz has ten questions. I will repeat twice in the different position.

(ACTFL Standards: Communication)

11:32 – 11:34: Pairs Activity: Signer’s Perspective– I will explain what the Signer’s Perspective means. I

will demonstrate where the tree, rope with tire, grass and rainbow are. Students will need to demonstrate

where the tree, rope with tire, grass and rainbow are. PowerPoint – slide 5

(ACTFL Standards: Communication and Connection)

11:34 – 11:49: Pairs Activity: I will ask students to sign for each word (tree, lion, rock, and door).

I will give them the example where the tree is, then where lion stands, where the rock is and which side the door is.

Students will need to identify where the door will be at also the shape/size of rock. Students will need

to know which direction each word will be on paper. – PowerPoint – slide 6 & 7

Page 4: carolannnemecek.weebly.com  · Web viewI will ask students to sign for each word (tree, lion, rock, and door). I will give them the example where the tree is, then where lion stands,

I will give out the paper to the pair. One of the pairs has to draw on the paper when I sign, “tree” on the

right side of the paper. Then I will sign where the “lion” stands in the middle. One of the pairs needs to draw

the lion in the middle of picture. I will ask the student to draw the door on the left side of the paper.

I will ask the student to draw the small “rock” behind the door on the left side of paper. After the pairs draw the

pictures, I will need to pick two different signer’s perspective on papers. I will discuss the difference between

two papers with students. They will comprehend the difference. It will help them to develop their

receptive skills and signer’s perspective.

(ACTFL Standards: Communication, Connection, Culture and Comparison)

11:49 – 11:50: Homework? I will ask students if they need more practice on ASL song or not. If they do, they will

need to see me on Wednesday and review everything before Friday. – PowerPoint – slide 8

(ACTFL Standards: Communication)

Assessment: The purpose of this class is to educate the students to comprehend the signer’s perspective. Students

will learn how to give the direction and identifying anything what they are supposed to give. Deaf people

Page 5: carolannnemecek.weebly.com  · Web viewI will ask students to sign for each word (tree, lion, rock, and door). I will give them the example where the tree is, then where lion stands,

required to understand and see the whole picture on the identifying and direction. Learning the signer’s

perspective is necessary. Students will need to demonstrate in American Sign Language. Students will

learn how to point the direction in specific area. Students will learn how to describe words in signer’s

perspective.

My Teaching Methods are: Direct Method in all slides. For example, I drew the tree on the white board and

pointed at the tree. I asked the students if the tree was at right direction or not. I also showed two posters

that students drew and pointed at right poster that showed the correct identification of tree, rock, door and

lion. I also used Total Physical Response. I asked students to sign 4 words (tree, lion, door and rock). They

signed back. We signed back and forth. Lastly, I used The Natural Approach (i + 1) for Quiz. Students

used their receptive skills to understand my signs and fingerspell. They wrote down on the quiz. For example,

I signed “you pet bear?” That sentence has 4 words. Students wrote 4 words. It has build up from one word to

many words. I also used Interactive Learning on Signer’s perspective in pair’s activity. I asked students

to identify what I signed. They signed and fingerspelled what I asked for. During pairs activity, students

asked each other what direction was the right way to draw on the paper.
