My name is Miss Phillips and I am honored to be your teacher this year. I received my Bachelor’s from Benedictine in Springfield in Elementary Education with endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies. I obtained a Master’s degree from Benedictine University in Reading and Literacy K-12 with a Reading Specialist endorsement. I am a life-long learner, a mini doxie owner, and a new mommy to my baby girl named Harper.

I worked for 2 years at Waverly Junior High School teaching 6th grade. I also worked 1 year at Riverton as a long term 4th grade sub. I look forward this school year!

Objective Focused Learning

My goal for teaching this year is to engage parents in the process. This means that I will be sending home newsletters that focus on the learning objectives I am teaching in the classroom. This will more clearly state how it is you can help your child learn the material. The other focus will be student organization. Students will be bringing home a planner nightly for your perusal and signature. It will include what we worked on (in student friendly terms) as well as a daily summary, which will serve as a conversation
