Reading Workshop: This week we read the story Days of Adventure and practiced making connections between stories and our lives. We also continued our independent reading and partner reading routines. Children learned that you can read anywhere, anytime, and were able to take home their book bags for the first time!

Reading and Writing Skills: We practiced identifying words and reading poetry with rhythm. We studied letter formation and word patterns.

Writing Workshop: We continued our “Small Moments” writing unit by stretching our stories to write one story across several pages. Students brainstormed the kinds of details that could be added to a story (setting, emotion, five senses). Ms. Wright the art teacher visited our classroom to help children draw even hard to make ideas in their books.

Math Workshop: We continued to talk about growth mindset and the importance of struggling through math problems to solve problems creatively. Students were introduced to graphing skills and number sense games.

Birthdays: Our new school policy is to support wellness by having treat free celebrations. On your child’s birthday, we will celebrate with a song, and they will be the special helper that day. Please do not send anything to school for birthdays.
