Idea Europe to liveIdea Europe to live
The goal of the joint project is empowering, connecting and reconstructing rural movements in Europe
The rural areas are precious to Europe. And yet they are often disadvantaged and in danger of no longer giving people future prospects. Besides European support programmes we need citizens who take their own initiatives and advocate for the shaping and care of their home regions. Important supports are civil society initiatives that motivate and accompany the educational offerings, convey civic competences, and represent interests.Christian, rural associations tackle this task in different ways.
The PRORURE project offers the opportunity of a Europe-wide cooperation of rural initiatives, strengthening and connecting up national and regional movements, the learning-from-one-another of established and new initiatives, exchange of experiences and possible solutions in the individual countries. During the two-year project the following topics will be worked on:
Sustainable agriculture - „family farming“ Workplace in the Village – arousing personal
initiative Active citizenship, democratic education,
engagement for the “countryside” as a place to live The village as space to live and for culture Public relations for rural areas / project Building up of new rural movements Setting up networks with organisational
development
The “kick-off” event on 11-13 November 2016 in Bad Honnef, Germany, will launch the theme “Europe in responsibility and solidarity”– this idea is
to run through the whole project.
The 5-day final conference in 2018 in Brussels will be on the keynote theme Building up the European network on rural areas –
association advocacy, European civic spiritand will mark the start of future cooperation.Project partners:
