May 4, 2020 Dear Families, We have almost 100% participation on TEAMS! HOORAY!!! Tuesday is our first morning meeting with the whole class! Though I’m not quite sure how this is all going to go, I am very excited that the class will get to see their friends on this platform. Please help your child get set up and be sure s/he is muted with camera on. We will take turns sharing our “furry” thing first. Then, we all will have a second turn to tell our beetle/bee choice. Since this is a new way to share…and very different for your child, practicing may help him/her feel more comfortable when it is his/her turn to share. I appreciate your support and participation with this! I post new info/activities/videos/practice on each of the subject webpages each week. Be sure to take a few minutes to notice what is there and decide whether it can aid in your child’s learning. As always, choose what works best for you and the learning style of your child. When I check in for our video conference this week, I ask that your child to be ready with a how to writing book to teach me. The Writing tab on the webpage could be helpful to remind your writer to be as exact and detailed as possible. I will also ask readers to choose a book from their Raz Kids page to read to me. This week we are remembering to be “Reading Stars” by working on fluency and expression. See the Reading tab on the webpage to give helpful hints to achieve this.

May 4, 2020Dear Families,

We have almost 100% participation on TEAMS!

I have also posted new activities on our Math page. This week your mathematician might work on adding 10 more or subtracting 10 less within 120. The goal is that this can be done successfully using mental math.

On our Word Work page, you may have noticed we are learning about “Bossy R”. There are many choices there for how your child can recognize, identify, make words and read words/stories with

“Bossy R”. Be on the lookout for these sounds in the books you/your child reads as well.

The weather has gotten better…thankfully! I bet those adopted trees are blooming and looking more and more green! Has your child turned over any rocks, leaves, or piles of dirt to find creeping, crawling, insects? There are some videos and webpages on our Science tab that might be a guide as well to help with the identification of insects found.

I am hopeful these resources support you as you continue in this role of teacher to your child. I remain full of gratitude for all you are doing!

Fondly,Mary Morano
