PARAGRAPH WRITING

A paragraph has three important parts: the Topic Sentence, the Supporting Sentences, and the Concluding Sentence.

Topic Sentence: A topic sentence introduces what the paragraph is going to be about. It is simple and direct.

Supporting Sentences: There are usually three to eight supporting sentences in a paragraph. These sentences communicate the information to the reader of the text about the topic of the paragraph.

Concluding Sentence: This sentence finishes off the paragraph. It does not give any more information and is usually similar to the topic sentence.

Essays: An essay is a combination of paragraphs. It follows a similar pattern to a paragraph with: the Topic or Introductory Paragraph, the Supporting Paragraphs, and the Concluding Paragraph.

PARAGRAPH WRITING

Police should be allowed to receive traffic tickets like anyone else. Everyday you see police cars turn on their sirens when they reach a red light just so they can run the light. I am sure you have all experienced this and you cannot see who they are chasing, a fire or accident in sight. When police abuse their privileges in this way, it makes them less credible to the public. Furthermore, as people hear their sirens go off, they are not always going to assume its an emergency, unlike an ambulance or fire truck. If police are expected to give the general public tickets for traffic offences, they should be setting an example for others to follow. Finally, statistics show that 6 out of 10 times a police officer uses his siren it is not an emergency. This is shocking! To close, I believe that police are not above the law. They are there to reinforce the law, therefore, if they break it, they should be ticketed.
