Welcome Everyone!

"Like hello all," my name is Tylor Krieger and I am an Eagle Scout from Troop 284 and I will serve as your Campmaster for the 2019 Fall Camporee.

The theme I chose for the Camporee is based on the cartoon Scooby-Doo and will consist of some classic Camporee activities like fire building, knot tying, first aid, trivia and more. "Zoinks," we will also have a whodunit activity that will consist of searching the campsite area for clues.

"Jeepers, I almost forgot" you will have a chance to earn more points by participating in afternoon events including: flag and yell judging, skit judging, and a costume contest. The afternoon game will be Ultimate Flying Sandwich (Ultimate Frisbee).

In addition we will be collecting "Scooby Snacks" for our furry friends looking to get adopted.

There will also be a special twist in the Scoutmaster's Cook-Off so, "Open mouth, pass the gums, look out stomach, here it comes." For this Camporee to be successful we’ll need several staffers. If you are 14 years old, at least a Star Scout and you want to join my staff, please contact me.

Let's have some fun and just so you know "I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn’t for you meddling kids."

Camporee InformationRegistration Registration for 2019 Fall Camporee will take place online only. The link for registration is: https://stlbsa.org/pathfinder/camping

Registration for the 2019 Fall Camporee must be completed online by 11:59pm on Oct. 4, 2019 in order to pay the “on time” price. The cost to attend the Camporee will be $8 per attendee (Scout and/or Adult). Price increases to $12 per attendee if you have not registered by the “on time” deadline date. Be prepared to enter the quantity of Troop Youth and Troop Adults from your unit that are attending Camporee when you register.

If you are hosting Webelos the Troop or the Pack will need to have a separate registration with the number of Webelos Youth and Webelos Leaders that are attending.

Rosters Every unit attending Camporee (both Pack and Troop) must turn in a roster on Friday night at check-in. Please provide all the information that the roster requests (name, address, phone, age, etc.). A printed sheet from Excel, Troopmaster, Scoutbook or some other similar format is acceptable.

Patrol Registration FormEvery unit that has patrols competing in the Camporee needs to turn in the patrol registration page when they turn in their rosters. The form is attached in the back of this manual.

Health InformationBe sure to have health information forms on all your participants (adults and scouts). This information should be readily accessible at your campsite. All leaders in camp, in case of an emergency, should know its location.

ParticipationIt should be noted that Camporee events are separated into two programs. The Boy Scouts and Webelos each have their own manual and participation is only for the intended group. However we highly encourage that during non event times the Boy Scouts should spend time with the Webelos scouts and encourage them to participate in all campsite activities (setting up camp, cooking, clean-up, camp games, & ect.)

Arrival and Check-InDo not plan to arrive earlier than 5:00 pm on Friday. After your vehicles are parked and while camp is being set up, please have an adult come to District Headquarters to check in with complete rosters, patrol registration forms, and final payments. Please check in between 7:00 and 9:00pm.

SPL/Scoutmaster/Webelos Leader MeetingThis meeting is important, so Senior Patrol Leaders, Scoutmasters, and Webelos Leader should attend. It will be held on Friday night at 9:30pm at District Headquarters. This meeting will cover any last minute changes to information pertaining to the Camporee program, as well as answer any questions you may have concerning the Camporee.

Page 4: scoutingevent.com · Web viewPrepare a skit for the staffers to judge after lunch. Bring your Patrol to HQ at 1:00pm. Your Patrol will receive 50 points for participating in the skit

Religious Services “A Scout is Reverent”. We ask that all Scoutmasters encourage their Scouts to attend the religious service of their choice. Locations of religious services will be discussed at the SPL meeting on Friday evening. In addition during the religious services those not attending religious services need to remain in their respective campsites and not be loud.

Campfire ProgramSaturday night the staff will put on a campfire with help of skits from the Boy Scouts and Webelos Scouts. This is a camp wide activity and we encourage everyone to attend in uniform.

Camp Rules and GuidelinesCamp CodeThe Scout Oath and Law is the camp code at all times. Violations to following the Scout Oath and Law may result in the individual, or his entire Troop, being asked to leave the event.

Parking Parking is allowed only in parking areas designated by the staff. You are only allowed to park in front of your Troop’s camping area. Please do not park in front of another Troop’s campsite.

We have made it District policy to leave room for a walkway in the grass, between parked cars and each Troop’s camping area. This is to allow Scouts to move from campsite to campsite without getting on the road. Please keep this grass easement open after your camp is completely set up.

Garbage All trash must be put into trash bags and disposed of properly off of the Camporee site. Pack out all trash! You may only use the dumpsters at the Ranger Maintenance Area if they are not already full.

Fires Ground fires are allowed but should be placed in existing fire pits if possible.

Pressurized FuelPressurized fuel lanterns and stoves are allowed, and must be operated by Scouts with proper training. Adult supervision must be trained. All fuel must be properly stored, and away from tents.

Alcohol Alcohol and drugs are simply not allowed. Period.

Sheath Knives Sheath knives are not permitted on Council property or at any Council activities.

Transportation When transporting Scouts in vehicles, they must be in proper passenger seats wearing seat belts at all times. Riding in the back of trucks or on tailgates is prohibited.

Scooby Snacks For this Camporee in honor of Scooby, we will be helping out our furry friends. The St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center has kindly asked us for soft dog treats that they can use to give to Scooby's buddies. Each Patrol is asked to please bring a $5 to $10 bag of soft dog treats to earn these points.

At least 1 bag per patrol 50 points

Ultimate Flying SandwichThe rules for Ultimate Flying Sandwich (Frisbee) are as follows:

Patrol teams will consist of 5 players. Teams can substitute other members of their patrol after either team scores.

A flip of the sandwich will be used to determine the team that starts on offense. The game will begin with both teams lining up on their end zone. The disc may be thrown in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. Players

may not run with the disc. The person with the disc has ten seconds to throw the disc. The defender guarding the thrower counts it out. (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, …)

When a pass in not completed (ex. out of bounds, drop, block, interception, out of time), the defense immediately takes possession of the disc and becomes the offense.

No physical contact is allowed between players. Picks and screens are also prohibited A point is scored when the offense completes a pass in the defense’s end zone. After a team scores a point, both teams will line up on their end zone and the other

team will now be on offense. Decisions by judges are final.

Adult OpportunitiesKoffee KlatchThis activity will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at Headquarters. This is an open-ended meeting, and is for adults in your Troop. This is the time to hear any new camping information from Council, discuss Scouting topics, and ask questions.

Come and enjoy this activity, have some coffee and a light snack. In the process, you will earn each of your Patrols 50 points towards their final score.

Pressurized Fuel Training This activity will be held on Saturday at 11:00am at Headquarters. Council pressurized fuel policies will be covered which pertain to how you properly operate and maintain pressurized fuel devices. You may become certified so you can train the Scouts in your Troop.

Adult Leader Cook-Off Scoutmasters and Scouters registered as attending Camporee have the opportunity to earn “braggin’ rights” by entering an entrée or dessert in the Adult Leader Cook-Off. The top entry in each category will receive a special award plaque at the closing ceremony. A troop may enter in both categories but should be a different leader for each.

As this is a Scooby Doo themed Camporee and Shaggy along with Scooby love sandwiches, we are looking for your best sandwich as an entrée. Hot or cold you choose, but build a sandwich that would impress Shaggy and Scooby.

All entries, whether they are an entrée or a dessert, will be judged on taste, presentation, and Camporee Theme. Entries will be judged by adults that are not associated with participating troops.
