Presentation Software Teachers often use presentation software such as PowerPoint to aid them in their lessons. Most students have a basic grasp of PowerPoint. For this lesson, I want you to go beyond the basics. I want you to make a PowerPoint presentation with all the bells and whistles. You probably won’t use all these features in your teaching, at least not all of them in one presentation, because it would be too visually distracting. However, I want you to show me what you can do with PowerPoint. You probably won’t use all these features in your teaching, at least not all of them in one presentation, because it would be too visually distracting. Here are some other PowerPoint presentations that show some of the things PowerPoint can do.Verb World, Jeopardy, Preposition Game, TESOL Poster Sessions, Spot the Difference, Moving UFO

You can also search online for PowerPoint Templates. For example if you wanted to play Jeopardy in your class, you would just need to get the Jeopardy template and then adapt the information on each slide to fit your needs.

Make a PowerPoint presentation about a story you make up (like for a children’s book).

Your presentation only needs to be a few slides long, but it should be packed with the features PowerPoint is capable of doing. Have objects flying around, pictures rotating in, text whizzing across the screen or suddenly appearing, sounds blaring, transitions between slides, and so forth. Make me say, “Wow!”

Extra CreditAutomate your presentation (automatic slide show) with your voice reading the story.

Give me your opinion of how well your teachers at BYUH use technology in the classroom, especially the use of PowerPoint. Opinion:I actually like it better when teachers don’t use powerpoint. I feel that it is usually distracting and has too much information on each slide. But I have had a few teachers that I feel do powerpoint correctly and that it actually aids their teaching instead of doing the teaching for them. I think my teachers use technology well I the classroom mostly becomes they don’t really use that much. I am more of an old school type I guess.

What experience have you had with presentation software and how do you envision yourself using it in your teaching.Thoughts:I have had to do some powerpoints in the past. I mostly feel like they are too much work for their amount of helpfulness. I would most likely only use powerpoint to play games or show my class pictures, and maybe if I had to give a note taking class. Other than that I probably would use it very often.
