Miyake's skill with fabric is rooted in his knowledge of traditional Japanese fabrics and fabric-production techniques. Most of the fabrics are very light and flowing, sometimes even transparent. He quite often use synthetic, also velvet, plain, printed, brocade, damask, embroidery and lace, containing lots of knitwear. Designer mostly chooses contrasting colors. For autumn/winter collections reflected mostly dark, mixed with a few bright colors and for the spring/summer – very light. In modeling he created lots of suits: jackets and trousers and dresses. The outfits are loose fitting, oversized, comfortable and wearable has classical and casual elements. Most of them have low waists and v-necklines. There are also many prints and lines, triangles on the side of dresses and futuristic. Inspired by origami he uses folding fabrics are using to create special shapes.

Target group: (shortly present primary target group)

The target group for Issey Miyake is 25 and over. It is mostly for consumers who want a comfortable, but elegant outfit. With a slightly artistic and futuristic look.
